For a long long time I kept a newspaper story I found in a paper somewhere about 3 kids who lived in some sleepy-town, in the US. They decided amongst the three of them that they had to get away - and made a deal, a pact that they were going to get away. They planned this out, and one of them stole a car, whilst Jenny (I'm sure it was Jenny...) stole her dad's pistol.
Whilst driving to Godknows where, they made another pact - that instead of going back to wherever it was they came from, they would shoot each other if they got caught. One of them would shoot the other two, and then himself.
As was bound to happen, they got pulled over somewhere, somehow - and as the policeman was walking towards the car he heard a couple of gun blasts, only to find when he opened the door - two of the kids dead, and the other struggling to get the gun out of the hand of the guy who shot himself. One had shot the other lad, but couldn't face shooting her, so shot himself.
I wish I knew where this story was, if I still have it. Or if I don't - why I don't. It was a fantastic story, one that I would love to re-read, and one that I would love to post here in full. (Breaking just about all copyright rules, ever.) I think I'll try and find it.
