ITV Digital have actually gone down the pan once and for all, truly madly and very very deeply. They stop broadcasting pay channels (including my beloved Sky One) at midnight BST. What does this say about the state of the UK in general? Probably nothing, but I'm cynical.

I today registered with Pertemps. I was veyr very confused by it all though. I was halfway through filling in the form on their website, when the page suddenly refreshed - clearing the form - but this time had a second frame at the top of the screen with a chat-window-type-thing in it. Turns out that they have it set up so they can talk to people who are browsing their website, and get you to sign up that way, instead of the traditional "Submit this form and we'll contact you later" routine.

This is a fascinating idea - but totally breaks the usability models of standard web sites. When you go to a website, your normal use case is that you find the link you want, and click on it (repeat until you find the info you need). You don't expect to have someone talk to you in realtime!

I also mailed the dude from last week's agency phone call. His response to my enquiry was simply "The guy dealing with applications at the company end has been away on holiday - should have feedback soon". So I still have some hope, eh?

Downloaded the BBC News Ticker today - quite nice to have it scrolling in the corner of my screen - though it seems to screw with IE6 and prevent any pages from loading when it's docked or stretched to full screen width. Weird. Might try and file a bug report.
