So, (I overuse that word) my current situation:

  • I'm unemployed.
  • I am getting benefits (£42 a week).
  • I am desperately seeking work, sending off applications & CVs daily.
  • I am living at home.
  • I'm not particularly happy living here.

I don't know what else to do. My multiple emails to agencies through PlanetRecruit.com have all gone unanswered up to now - which is a bad bad thing. I'm not sure whether this is because my email was crap or because the agencies didn't want to know. I'm really not at all sure whether I'm missing out on key jobs because I'm not looking in certain places.

I'm supposed to be going to Liverpool the weekend of the 10th. I want to go. I haven't seen (or spoken to much, for that matter) Colin or Rachel for many weeks. I do have her number, but I just haven't got round to calling - you know how it is... the question is, will I be able to afford it. I'd like to go to the bank, get them to up my overdraught some more, and then I'll pay off people like BT, LA Fitness and WorldxChange who are all beying(sp?) for my blood, or my money, or both. I know it's paying debt with debt, but it's paying immediate and expensive debt with long-term and not-so-expensive debt - which is good. I'll do it tommorrow if I can...

This song is absolutely brilliant. Surreal - but brilliant. The video is even better. If you can get hold of the Avalanche's album - "Since I Left You", do it! :)

I wish I was in the US still... I'm almost certain I could find work over there with very little trouble. I know I COULD find work here at a moment's notice if I wanted to do another bar job or work as a temp, but I'd rather start off properly - if that makes sense. I want a career - not a job. Even if I could find a geeky job here, it would be in Glasgow - so I may as well move out. If I am going to do that, I want to move further south - for a few reasons... 1:- get away from parents again. 2:- get closer to friends 3:- pay and choice of work is generally better.

Anyhow, enough of my job-related rambles. Unfortunately until I find something I'm unlikely to change my tone... wish me luck :)

Why, even though Outlook filters my junk mail away from my inbox, do I still feel the need to look at it? :)

Currently listening to one of the best albums from the late eighties/early nineties that I know of: Simply Red's "A New Flame". Yes, this is truly excellent stuff, especially when you compare it to what SR have pumped out in the last 3yrs or so, which has been utter crap (everything from "Fairground" onwards, really.

A New Flame (current song) for example. Starts out as a powerful tango-style song, and has moments of utter excellence in the chorus. "You've Got It" - *gasps*. I haven't heard this for years. Hang on... *searches*

I'm very easily pleased, huh? Lyrics to this beautiful ballad here )
