I've decided that a redesign was in order already. The code I had for dealing with the web was messy and fairly unruly, hard to keep up with. This is what I have spent all evening doing. My life is so exciting! Well, actually, I was excited when I managed to get it all working *smiles* Success feels so good! Warning: Geekery Ahead )

This must be dull as hell for all you lot out there, but I don't care. This is 3am, and I need to go to bed - I have to be up early because ITV Digital are coming to take away my Digibox tomorrow :( *sobs* No more UK Play on my PC.

Anyhow - onwards to what can only be - More Geekery )

I've now given up on that tack for reasons of the code being unmanagable (even at such a small level), and have opted to experiment with the HTTP:: and LWM:: classes. And boy it is so much easier and tidier.

Though some of the things mentioned have been taken on board and have become part of it so far.

Thanks again!

Firstly I solved my mobile dilemma. I promised to sell my 3210 to Rach, and assumed that I could use my old Motorola beast until I got a new one. Turns out that I can't, as the motorola beast is single band, and on the BT Cellnet band, which isn't the same as the Orange one. d'oh.

So - my mum has been extra extra extra brilliant. We were out and I was looking at PAYG or All Inclusive deals, and Vodafone had a £150 deal for 12months line rental and 100 anytime minutes included per month. So then we looked in the BT Cellnet shop. Oh boy. Their deal is twice as brill :) They do a £199 package - which is free line rental - for life.

Included in this are either:

  • 50 anytime minutes
  • 50 text messages
  • 100 Weekend minutes and 20 text messages
  • 200 weekend and evening minutes
per month.

Unfortunately none of these are perfect - I really want a "20 mins anytime and 20 text message" a month option, and it would suit me perfectly, meaning almost zero cost to me. But I've chosen the 50 text messages a month option, as most of my bill is made up of this. I could have a £2.99 a month charge in order to have 50 minutes AND 50 SMSes, I haven't decided yet. I have 28 days to decide.

Secondly - this phone came SIM locked to BT Cellnet, so after spending a half-hour hunting for Jethro's Unlocking software, I found it at last and unlocked it so I can use my Orange PAYG SIM in it, to use up that fiver of credit that I was given. Anyone else got a Nokia (3210/3310/8110/5110) they want unlocking and is willing to either post or bring round? A fiver a go :)

And I'm at home. This is wrong - I'm sure I was supposed to be somewhere, but who knows where? Nobody has sent me a message or called to tell me I am late, so I'm not worrying. Anyhow, I have beer, and I have coding to get on with.

Semi-Geekery Lies Ahead. Be warned. )
