What a superb news story this makes:

Pierre Lescure, the ousted chairman of French pay-television firm Canal Plus, has hijacked the airwaves to tearfully complain he had been unfairly dismissed.

Cute :)
In other news, Phil is bored, yay. I'm sure Phil has stuff he should be doing, but he can't think of anything important. I checked my account last night on Barclays Net Banking, and regretted it. At my current rate of income I'll be back in the "virtual" black after about a month, assuming no outgoings. Virtual black - because I'm taking my o/d limit as the new 0 level... *g*

This isn't helped by ITVDigital, who took £30 out my account for this month's service. They're refunding it, but the point is, now I'm paying yet _more_ interest on this, and they're gaining on it. Annoying, n'est pas? At least after this is sorted, I only have two bills to pay - Barclaycard and Chalkface (ISP), along with loan repayments. Argh. I'm going to head to Tesco and places in Helensburgh later and ask for short term work there... I've tried several times to get through to HSBC but I swear nobody answers, ever.

Commerce One, a former star of the dot.com world, has been forced to take drastic action in order to survive.
This is why I am having so much trouble, eh? All these dotcoms throwing skilled people out into the streets to take a job that should be mine! :) Though - saying that - according to this web page:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/business/newsid_1934000/1934618.stm
The number of people out of work and claiming unemployment benefit in the UK fell by 6,000 last month, according to official figures.
Feh :)

That didn't just suck, it blew big chunks too.

I eventually got through to First Direct on the phone, and wasn't expecting to at all. 20 minutes of questioning later, I come out a quivering wreck, totally unsure of anything... I had no idea what they were going to ask apart from "What experience do you have?" and "why do you think you would suit this role?" so was completely unprepared. Got put on hold for a few minutes at the end while she was "checking my answers against the criteria" only to be told that I "don't meet the criteria". Hmph.

I woulda done so much better face to face - kinda not the point for a telephone banking company though, eh? :)

I'm finding a few - but all down south. I dunno.
I'll send my CV off to them, may as well. If someone offers me a job I'll move, I can't be fussy right now. I have decided though that I need to be working somewhere in weeks time or have serious prospects of a full time "career-position". Yep. 2 weeks. OK? This is silly.

You will have previously built your own PC's & networks from scratch. You must be self-motivated & used to learning new topics on your own as well as being an excellent problem solver. The environments that you will be working in are mainly Novell, NT, and Linux.
That would be me then :) Let's see what I can do.

Ooooo I just found this community: [livejournal.com profile] unemployed_lj. *rofl* I like!

My paid account has finally reverted back to free :(
Hence I can no longer actually read my friends page (time outs abound). I wonder if I can convince my parents that I need livejournal for my sanity? *sobs* *whimpers*
