The prettiest part of Scotland is in no uncertain terms, the hills. I went on a road trip to the Trossachs today. Was going to take lots of pictures but my digicam's battery was dead, took a few with my phone but they ain't the best quality.

Gorgeous day. Lovely driving.

Cable went out this morning before I left. Called them up and apparently they were waiting for one more person to report a problem before they could get it raised as a group problem. Thanks be, when I got back it was on, then off, then on again. Can't live without internet! :)

I also bought myself a router which I can use today. Oops. The one I bought in Manchester is a router and ADSL modem combined, so can't (and won't) connect to the cable modem. This was a fact not mentioned on the Micro Direct price listing. I will try and flog it to my dad 'cuz he has ADSL. Failing that, will flog it on eBay or Amazon or somewhere.

So now I am online with my laptop, muhahahah. I've got IMAP running on "ROUTER" (really must change that name), Must play with it some more. Not sure exactly how I want to deal with email yet.

Ehhhhh.
Why can't everyone else work normal hours, and why do they all have to be at work while I'm off? I have the time and money to do stuff and I can't! D'oh! Though I do believe I owe [livejournal.com profile] ruthytoothy a trip in July. You'll need to bug me about it else I will forget, ok?

I love Unix :)

As an example. Instead of having to copy and change all my settings from my Nix box, all I need do is log into 192.168.0.2 and export DISPLAY to whatever, and voila, any X-applications can be used as if they're on my local machine.

I should really set up DNS instead of IPs, but with 2 machines (well, 3 if you count the router) it's not really worth it.

Ooooo, this means I can run GAIM in Windows too!!! WHEEEEE! And not have to worry about logs on different machines. And I have IMAP set up so although right now I'm using Outlook Express for my mail, it doesn't actually matter what I use.

I'm so happy in a geeky way :))
*runs gaim in Windows XP and has a mini-orgasm*

The Middle Ages, apparently.

"You come from the Middle Ages. Your soul came from a time when dragons, knights, war and Princesses ruled the land."

I could imagine myself from those days, as long as I could have a net connection.
