I don't understand why I've never seen Ice Station Zebra before! I mean, I have a dad who's really big on sub films (I guess working on them for 20yrs does that to you), and I've seen most of the other decent ones around. mmmm, Run Silent Run Deep tops them all...

This is too good :) And what I especially like, in any film - not just this one, is interplay between Americans and Brits. It's always been a fascinating subject for me, much more fun in real life though.

I bought myself a pair of Hush Puppies today, drove to Brantano in Clydebank. I have a huge problem with shoes, and it bugs me every time I need new ones. See, I tried on a pair of size 10s in these Hush Puppies and they felt a little big, and they didn't have any 9s. So, then I tried a pair of size 10s in something else, only to find I couldn't even get my foot in there! Tried 11s, no joy there either.

See, I have feet that are way too wide, and in combination with a very high instep (that's the right term for the bridge of your foot, right?), this makes it damn near impossible to find shoes that fit in all dimensions. I have to buy long to find the width.

Oh well, if the sayings are true, I'm not complaining! ;)

I wandered round Clydebank shopping centre too. It's changed a bit since I was last there. They've been "doing it up" for the last 5yrs, and they've recently put in a new multi-storey car park and roofed most of it. problem is, that even today when the weather was overcast, it felt like a greenhouse. Argh. Oh, AND I was going to go to Dixons to get an in car charger, but it's closed *sobs* Had to go to Phones4U (icky).

While there, popped into Currys at the retail park, and I was investigating the DVD Recorder they had there. They had one at £299. Three hundred pound for a DVD recorder? I don't see why anyone would buy a VCR now, when you can get a DVD-R for the same price you'd get a high end VCR. Another target of my affections were the table-top dishwashers, and not just because of [livejournal.com profile] ruthytoothy getting one, either. I've wanted one for ages but I don't have any space. The table-top one could quite nicely fit in by the window :)

I'm paying about £30 a month for a Washer-Dryer, to rent. Been just under 10months now, so that's around £300 I've spent on it. I've been trying to justify buying one instead of renting, but I can't. Financially it's more sensible, but when it goes wrong...

Eh.

A clean kitchen is a happy kitchen. Washing up is now almost all done, 2 glasses to do and whatever I'm using to cook right now. What is supposed to be stir fry is in the oven because I can't be arsed to give it the attention it would require to become stir fry, so it's become slow-fry.

I guess all told, today has been quite pleasant. It took a turn for the better after nipping out to the local shop at about 4pm. My cable TV's been a bit on the dodgy side so after Ice Station Zebra finished, started to do stuff, only interrupted by those damn Orange marchers. What is it with whistles and drums that make them so annoying?

It's weird being home on a weekend with nobody to email without thinking I could be disturbing them - I don't mind if people are at work. Lessee, the usual suspects are [livejournal.com profile] pipsytip, [livejournal.com profile] ruthytoothy and [livejournal.com profile] kundrun, and they're all apparently otherwise engaged.

s'my own fault for being home on a Saturday night *smiles*

k, time to cook off the remaining turkey and do something to it.
