I'm finding myself becoming more and more like
skinglist in one way whilst on my computer, and this is one thing that I've always chided other people for at work. Damn it's annoying :)
In TDMS we have at minimum 12 seperate systems for doing various things:
There are more, but I can't think of them now. Anyhow. The point of this post? With all these systems, and having to use many of them in parallel (for example, on a voicemail query you will use the HLR and PPS together, lost and stolen Excalibur and CDRQ, and so on...), it's impossible to keep a nice neat and tidy desktop. I just gave up.
skinglist once showed me a screenshot of her desktop and it scared me - so many windows open!!!! I just looked at my desktop, it's looking just like hers. Even with Mozilla and tabbed browsing :)
(As a side note, it bothers me somewhat that we have so many seperate systems to use - so many of these could be integrated if someone would spend the time doing it - so instead of 12 seperate tools we could have one tool to do everything related. For example - PPS and Dana should be one tool - they both do voicemail...)
In TDMS we have at minimum 12 seperate systems for doing various things:
- Excalibur - Customer care system and interface to "the network"
- HLR - Home Location Register - basically gives us a real-time snapshot of what features and details are actually active on a cust's account, as opposed to what _should_ be active
- PPS - allows us to check Voicemail box details and acts as a backup HLR
- Dana - allows us to add and remove Voicemail boxes
- Atlas - used to raise an "incident", if we can't solve it we can send it to SID (Service Interface Desk), who will try to sort it or send it to a resolving agency
- NPS - Network Presentation System - a realtime snapshot of what state the network is in, can check for network problems in a particular area
- Voucher Management - can check if PAYG vouchers have been reg'd, when, by whom and so on
- Merlin - standard source of all knowledge for all CSAs
- TDMS Merlin - standard source of all knowledge for all TDMS CSAs
- Scapula - for dealing with mobile email and "My Services" queries
- CDRQ - for running reports to find a PAYG customer's last used IMEIs if we need to blacklist it (lost/stolen)
- Testlab - send SMS and updates to cust h/s
There are more, but I can't think of them now. Anyhow. The point of this post?
