Jane and I spoke when she got home from her night out on Friday (about midnight or so), and I got persuaded to go then instead of waiting for Saturday morning. What a shame. A good night was had by all, though that lass really needs to get a bigger bed. We don't _quite_ fit comfortably :)

After an event-filled morning we stopped for lunch at the Piece(??) Square and had fantastic food, and headed to Leeds by train. It wasn't as mad as I expected but still it was busy. I spent remarkably little in the big scheme of things. £20 on a rather cool pressie for Jane, £10.99 on my mum, £15 on part of a pressie for R&J.

I seem to be poorer than I expected and I believe this might be in part due to NTL. I think they screwed up and took ~£50 out my account when they shouldn't have, I shall call them tomorrow and find out, and bust some balls if I have to. Oh, and I'm waiting for a 2nd cheque to come from Scottish Power - they've already sent one, another one is due.

Back to Halifax, then onto York. Not a bad time was had, would have been nice to mingle more, and see more of the others but I was feeling rather tired and needed lots of sleep, and we needed to get home.

Sunday morning/afternoon, after watching the Beeb interrupt Lawrence Llewlyn Bowen with news of Sadam's capture, we made quite an impressive discovery, which was cool :) Could be fun. I left c. 1500 and was at work this evening from 6-10, which was fun. I love being on o/t and getting insulted by people because you _know_ you ain't being monitored... read into that what you will :)

Officially off tomorrow but doing about 5hrs of o/t again. This month's time done before the 23rd goes into the bank on the 7th Jan, which is very cool and useful and handy, considering that Dec pay goes in on the 17th or so. Wondering what to do with myself. Am thinking that I should sort out the back room. It's set up with the bare bones PC but lots of computer stuff is still boxed up. The printer needs doing, desperately.

Hmmm.

This was written as a comment to one of those "tell me something about yourselves" meme thingies going on. It was going to be short but I kept on expanding it until I decided it had to be a journal entry on it's own.
My name's Phil, and I'm an anti-shaver

I detest shaving. Seriously loathe it. I dislike the fact that every day I need to partake of a ritual of soaping up and scraping the growth off my face. I think this is why I hate it so, because I also hate routine. I am terrified that one day I shall turn into the person who walks in the door at the same time and says "honey, I'm home" so predictably that you could set a clock by me, or that says the same thing to the pet on the way out every day, or that leaves spot on the same time to go to work every day, so much so that you spot the same cars in the same traffic jams every day.

I fear the idea so much, I actively create discord in my life. I work shifts with varying amounts of overtime, I never leave home (or work) at the same time, I can't go to bed at the same time, I never watch the same thing on TV every week...

However I also hate the feeling of being prickly and hairy. This creates a certain dilemma. Right now the being hairy thing wins hands-down because I have no mirrors at home, and shaving with no mirrors is....... "interesting" at best.

I also don't think I have ever shaved and not cut myself. I don't know if I am capable of it :) I don't like using safety razors, which probably doesn't help.

Wow, this should be a journal entry :)
And lo!, it was.

Gotta love being able to download realplayer files for later. Not quite managed to figure out why realplayer insists on running as root, I don't quite trust it enough for that kind of thing but when you haffta, you haffta.

I got fed up with mainpc being upstairs. It now lives in the cupboard in the living room. I've not yet managed to figure out how to close the cupboard properly but still, it's left upstairs free for a proper office-type place. Had to half-demolish the cupboard to get the PC in properly :) That was fuuuun! One day I should really replace the power supply (low noise) and case (something smaller than a full tower would be nice).

I rediscovered a love of Morisson's today. That place is fantastic. Loads of cheap food and stuff. Got new pillows for some daft amount of money. Nothing fantastic but good enough for my purposes. Paying for parking sucks, even if you do get it back at the checkout. And having to scrabble for pound coins for trolleys is pants, but I'm sure it's not that bad in the big scheme of things.

Work tomorrow. Should have done this morning and 4-9 this evening but 8pm came and I had to go. So sleepy. I'd only been there 4hrs and I had to scrape the car again darnit. Is howwibly howwibly cold now.

I am having deep deep misgivings about my agency now. I got a letter through my door yesterday morning with a gas safety inspection. Great, thought I. A good thing. Checked it out and the date on it was the 10th. Hmm. I didn't know anyone was coming in on the 10th. No idea, in fact. Talked to them today and they made up some crap that the inspection was done when the contractor came round on Weds 3rd to get the heating on when I finally got the gas on.

I can't prove otherwise so will accept it for now, but really have to talk to someone about this. CAB, first stop?
