As some of the more astute amongst my readership may have noticed, I spent the Christmas season with
pipsytip and her friends and family in sunny West Felton with the mafia family. If anyone goes "where?", feel good that I did exactly the same thing the first time I heard.
I was going to head to Jane's after work on Christmas eve and we would set off south straight away, but with me feeling crappy and poopy and not at all right I'd not gone into work, on the 23rd or 24th, and headed to Jane's earlier than expected.
It's a nice drive out to nearly North Wales. Especially when you're not driving. And it's dark. And you want to sleep. I've never been much good at car journeys unless I am driving, it's one time I've always been quiet and it has a very sophorophic effect on me. Arriving at the house, I was ready to get her to turn the car round and go home :) Nervous? Me?
Jane's mum greeted us loudly, Jane's dad greeted us less loudly. They were nice indeed. No screw ups, at least not avoidable ones ;) More on that later, I think.
We ate quickly, John went out carol singing, whilst Jane and my mum and I sat chatting. She's quite quite mad. Both Jane and her mum. Pub, hmmmm. Good beer. Nice folks. Jane's friends from school turned up and were cool. I got very pissed :) Very very pissed. Not so pissed I fell over but pissed enough to not *really* remember getting home, but then it is a 20 second stagger.
Woken up on Christmas day about 10 by a loud and out of tune rendition of "Good King Wenceslas". Ow. My head hurts still. I had the hangover from hell. Egg and bacon thicker than any I've ever seen helped cure that though *g*
Presents - cool. I got some fantastic stuff from various people. I was amazed that people I'd never even met before had got me stuff, I'd bought everything from my parents with me. Jane appreciated her stuff too - which was cool...
Christmas dinner was a splendid affair with family friends, this is where the one disaster came in. As I was squeezing into the dining room past the radiator there was a clunk and a splosh and a glug-glug-glug. There was a bottle of red wine by it, on the floor. I didn't know it was there!
Didn't drink too much but as I was the only one drinking white I was presented with an entire bottle on my own ;) Muhahahaaaaa!
Boxing day, again we got up embarassingly late. Quiet day, until the evening when we went to Avril(sp?) and Graham's house (with the gorgeous Paula) and we were force fed portugese fare - swordfish that was utterly delicious.
Lost concentration on writing now, more later, maybe.
