Whilst I await the loading of the slowest webshite ever (theaa.co.uk) to get a quote for car insurance, I think I should write. I haven't actually written since Thursday last week.

OK, well what's happened? Very little of much excitement apart from the interview today. Will comment on that shortly. Jane was here on the weekend and it was fun. We went for dinner and a movie on Sunday evening, went to see LoTR:RoTK. Considering I hadn't seen the other two in the series nor read the books, I found it a very enjoyable film.

I ain't gonna critique it or anything, but suffice to say it stands up on it's own as a very good waste of 3hrs ;) It's gotten me intrigued enough that I want to see the other two.

This weekend is the big one... Going to Mallaig to celebrate Jane's quarter-century ;) There's no harm in stating this here now, considering she's going to find out eventually, but this (http://www.visitlochness.co.uk/index.htm) is where I am taking her. There shall be much whisky, there shall be wanderings and hopefully fantastic food.

Hopefully it'll all work out OK and the car won't break down and everything's gonna be as fantastic as I hoped. I'm so incredibly disorganised. There's a lot of stuff I wanted to get done which I haven't / will get done tomorrow during lunch or after work.

Hopefully.

Well the interview.

I'd gone on an investigative mission on Tuesday night to find out where this place is, and was pleasantly surprised. It's _right_ next to the Hallam FM Arena. As in the building next door. Dead easy to find anyhow.

Turned up about quarter of an hour early just 'cuz I always turn up early to things like this. Annyhow. The guys spent about 20mins talking about what they do, where they're going and gave me a chance to ask questions first which I liked lots - normally this is at the end and at that point you just want to get out, ya know?

They asked me about my degree, what things were about, how they were developed and so on. What involvement I had with what bits of which group projects. They asked about my current involvement and I talked to them about my recent PHP and MySQL developments (nothing big but I've been trying to develop a simple database/front end for a DVD database - I know I could pick one off the shelf but this is about learning).

I don't know if I wowed them, but I was honest, I answered the questions I could and told them when I didn't know the answer but had a good guess at them. I think I came across alright.

Then there was the "test". A series of questions on a variety of subjects from PHP (of which I could answer only one), SQL (a few), C (all of them), Unix/Linux (all of them), Apache (most of them) and a couple of other subjects. I feel I did well on that, however fell short on the PHP and SQL, because the stuff related to this that I do know is very basic.

I will find out on or before Friday if I will be asked back. I believe it will be another interview if I am successful at the first stage.

So I'm looking forward to my phone ringing.
