Well, potential good news anyhow.
I got a call from a recruitment agency yesterday. They're putting me forward for a "Technical Support Advisor (Data Specialist)" position in Sheffield. The job spec looks identical to the more technical aspects of what I do now, with NONE of the bits I despise. Also - it's not working for the crappy company called T-Mobile ;)

My only worry is that they're going to want experience of supporting corporate blackberries, but I have been learning and teaching myself as much as I can (we escalate all corporate problems to our business team in Greenock - how ironic). I'm looking forward to finding out more.

I was quoted £650 for a year's insurance to renew with Norwich Union! Six hundred and fifty pounds?! I only paid £450 for the first year!

Anyhow, did some calling round on the internet, and found the lowest quote about £418 (one instalment of £70, 10 of £41 @29% APR totalling £480 with Fortis/Confused.com), however I called Norwich Union to tell them this, and I have been offered a year's insurance + breakdown cover with the RAC for £500 (approx £450 insurance & £50 RAC), paying approx £41/mo (the guy I spoke to insisted there was no deposit but that doesn't work out - I'd end up only paying about £480 over 12mths. Deposit would work out to approx £70 + 11mths@£41.

Given the choice I'll go with Norwich Union as I've had no problems with them so far. If the cost difference is huge, then it'll have to be Fortis.

Just bought from MoreThan. Although it wasn't the cheapest quote, they had the best monthly offerings, with the lowest APR and no deposit.

I'll give the Indian guy from Norwich Union the brush off when he calls back, as he was rather pushy and made me feel very uncomfortable.
