I didn't get the job. No verbal feedback given, said that they'd send a letter. Fantastic, more time not knowing what they felt wasn't right about me for the position.

TDMS at Dearne are having their skillset removed. What this means is that as of the 3rd of December, we shall no longer be taking calls of the same nature as we do now.

I have an interview within TSC Tuesday for a job within the 'Technical Escalations' team for UK Broadband. This should be interesting, however if I were to do this, I would be moving off my TUPE'd T-Mobile contract and re-sign a TSC contract. Not sure on the details of this yet, need to check my current contract and compare it to a copy of the "standard" TSC one. Also need to check on the exact details of this practise - is it right and proper to be asked to do this?

There's a few things I know that I'd lose by default:
  • Bank Holiday pay (double time)
  • A day in lieu for working the above
  • Notice period - in the standard TSC contract I saw it is 1 week from the employer's side!
  • Contractual sick pay - TSC's is discretionary
  • Holiday entitlement - currently on 25days + 9 bank holiday lieu days a year. Standard is 30.
  • Private Healthcare
  • Bonus/STIP
Apparently there's plenty of bargaining room, depending how badly they want people. I will be bargaining to keep at a bare minimum - holiday days (34), a decent notice period (4wks), contractual sick pay and private health.

Obviously I'm still applying for other jobs, so should

[EDIT: I've only just noticed that I never finished this entry! I've got no idea what I was going to say so... just talk amongst yourselves...]
