But an extra-ordinary lie-in this morning is conspiring against me.

Had a great weekend. Note - weekend! Not just one day. Went to Shropshire on Friday afternoon, had a fun time with [livejournal.com profile] pipsytip, going to a folk night at the village hall, the cinema to see Wallace and Grommit, and going to the Secret Hills thingie for a wander and an explore, and came home tonight. So this is what it feels like to have a full weekend off? :) I want more!

Next time I'm going to see Jane, I'm going to go down on Thursday evening or Friday morning and spend the day in some nearby big towns (that means Shrewsbury, Chester, Oswestry, Manchester if I get really bored), asking around various agencies - see what jobs they have on offer for a Phil. The need to remove myself from my current employers is high.

Anyone got any hints for getting good, reliable, relatively long term work through agencies?

My list includes: Royston, Hoyland, Penistone (hurhur), Goldthorpe (affectionately known to the locals as 'Golie'), Great Houghton and a phone call from home. Must include a call in to my bloody letting agency to see them face to face about the back wall. Despite several phone calls and several weeks passing, nothing appears to have been done. Not acceptable.

Received car tax reminder today. *gulp* Scary biscuits. My master plan - buy 6 months now and use the post office jobs to buy savings stamps... Ack, just checked website and can't do this anymore.

Right then, what else can I buy at the post office?

*looks again* Oh, yes you can. HURRAH! Considering I'm doing an average of 6-7 a month, at a fiver a time....... nice. I'll have enough car tax available for years to come *G*

And miracle of miracles, didn't get lost once. I must be getting to know the local area far too well. Most pissed off to arrive at one particularly out the way place to find it closed... On the plus side, I now have more than £50 electricity in the meter! Should last me an age. Just wish getting gas was as easy - only a few post offices will let me put it on debit card. The savings stamps should help me out quite a lot with this dilemma.

Driving home last night should have been great fun. However I got stuck behind someone who thinks that in fog you can't drive over what is really nice road at more than 20miles an hour. The problem being that the fog was just bad enough to mean that I wouldn't have felt right overtaking them. Bah, and humbug I say.

Going to head to the gym at 7. Yes. I am. I haven't been for ages - due to not being here, being ill and whatnot for the past month I've neglected it and I can tell.

Must get copy of P60 from work if possible, because for some horrible and annoying reason I can't find mine. I'm so good with this paperwork - why don't I have it in my "Pay and Tax" folder? Got P45s from previous jobs, and coding notices from previous years... *slaps self* I worked things out as best I could from my payslips but it comes out with me owing nearly £20 when my self-employed earnings for tax year 04-05 were about £40! Something not quite right there.
