The newly developed WMF exploit. It's not big news yet other than in geek circles, but it's bad news.

Essentially, just by downloading, viewing, opening an image, or even just going to a web page with an image on it, it's possible that you could become infected by any virus, trojan, worm, malware, bot or backdoor software that the host wants. And this time it does appear to be this simple.

Literally - go to web page in IE, image loads, you're infected.
Or... Someone sends you picture by email which you load up, you're infected.

http://www.f-secure.com/weblog/ has lots of information and links on this. There's stuff on every major security software website, there's an official MS announcement about it but no official patch. There's an unofficial patch out which does a damn good job, apparently, but still. This isn't good.

I was concentrating so hard on the lorry turning in the inside lane and making sure that I missed it, that I didn't see the lights changing by Ikea. It was dark and I'd been driving for 8 bleeding hours in the snow. I braked hard and ended up halfway across the line, well behind the junction though. As I sat back to breathe *flish*... pause ... *flish* Bloody red light camera.

Fingers crossed they see reason and that I actually didn't go through the red light, just half-way over :)

Been investigating housing costs in London and I'm slowly but surely coming to the conclusion that I might not be able to afford to live there on the wages that Audible are offering. I could almost certainly manage if I were able to carry on MSing at the same level I am now, but working 10-6 will limit my options there. House sharing is an option, which I will have to look in to but if I can avoid it, I'd like to not do it.

The max wage offered by Audible will be a 4k increase on my base salary, which very roughly adds £300/mo. I currently pay £325 + bills + tax, so I guess it's possible but I feel it may be a stretch. I don't knowwwww!

Of course, this is all assuming that they make me an offer! Still a big assumption. I've got until the 7th January to wait for an answer, so maybe I should just stop thinking about it.
