I've been looking through various letting agency websites, and I've found a whole load of houses I'm interested in. I'll be paying more than I am here, but quite frankly that doesn't bother me. I'm going to be getting a nice payrise and I'm expecting some expenses to dramatically reduce (think... petrol to Shropshire!).

I'm looking in Warrington. I've decided that getting a temp short term let in Manchester until they company move isn't worthwhile - for 2 reasons. Firstly, I don't know exactly when the move will happen. Secondly, moving house is a hassle enough, I don't want to live somewhere that's going to feel temporary for up to 4 months.

My favourite option so far is a house in Callands. It's a decent price 1 bed house with off-street parking on the north side of Warrington, only 5 mins from the M6/M62, Google maps claims it's 18 miles from DM's current office and 7 miles (or so) from their new offices, which seems like a decent compromise to me. If push comes to shove and I get it and hate it, it'll almost certainly only be a 6 month standard short term assured tenancy agreement.

Obviously this _all_ depends on lots of stuff. I'll be arranging lots of visits for this Saturday/Sunday and possibly Monday, and with any luck I'll have signed the dotted line by Monday afternoon, and will have the keys in my hands by the 8th/9th April.

See, my plans are there. I just have to make them happen.

I should have known that trying to contact the council regarding council tax around the 1st April would be an impossible job. I've been trying for an hour. Time to visit the local office in person.

Called HR at DM and am expecting a call back from them regarding start date. Have investigated van hire costs - depends how long I want it for as to costs. £125.99 from one place for a weekend, to hire a long wheel based, high roof van. I think I'm going to be better off going for a day's hire, as if I'm supposed to start on the Monday, returning it on Monday could prove to be fun.

Called 'Jordans Rentals' regarding the houses I was looking at, and one of the ones I was interested in are available for when I need them :( *sulk* I'm going to pop in tomorrow after the training.

[Edit: It appears that at least 3 people on my friends page are currently in the process of moving house of some description - I can't help but feel that all my wittering about it is making this sound really dull!]

I can get a high roofed, long wheel based van for 24 hours (Friday midday through Saturday midday), for about £40 from Enterprise. That would require returning it to Barnsley, however. 1 way rental would cost £50 on top of that price. I can't decide if it's worth doing that or coming back. I guess I can't decide until I've got more details.

I've decided on an agency in Warrington I want to investigate tomorrow, more thoroughly than others. I've been really impressed with them so far when I spoke on the phone, and they appear to have a good range of properties available in my price range. They're also rental only, which is normally good in my experience. They also work weekends! I fully expect to have a large number of property sheets through the door when I wake up on Saturday morning :)

I'm feeling really positive today. Everything in the house is happening at a steady but positive pace. My ebay auctions are ticking over gently (somebody appears to be bidding on them! What's the betting they win but don't pay up *G*).
