The universe hates me.
Today I get a phone call from Enterprise saying that the van that I'd booked online isn't available. I get 24 hours notice, and now find that getting a van anywhere locally is virtually impossible. I've found one, but it needs to be returned to the place by 1030 on Saturday, which isn't impossible, but is going to be a stretch.

I do have one other possible option, but I don't know if it's even an option.

So - not only does this happen, but at the same time I call up Jordans to check that they received a fax from LetsXL. They claim not to have done - LetsXL swear they have sent it. Gah! What am I supposed to do? I ask them to send it again and get told it'll be done straight away. I then leave it 10 minutes or so to give them time and check again. Nothing. I'm going to leave it until 3pm, if nothing happens then I am going to be mightily furious.

I've not had a good day at all.

Found van with 1van1.com, good price. Probably got some ridiculous milage clauses or some other daft things but right now I don't care, I just need confirmation that I can do what I need to do. Needs to be back at 1030 on Saturday which can be done - pack almost everything Friday night and leave real early Sat morning. it won't matter if I leave a few small bits as I can always come back the next day/weekend in the car, right?

I'm going for a cup of (irish) tea. Anyone want one?

I'll stop being Murray Walker now.

Van (re-)arranged after Enterprise screwed me over, and very nice lady from 1van1 called me to make sure I knew where I was going. Whoo. Call received from the lady at Jordans who advised that LetsXL forwarded on my policy details to them without any bother.

Now it's just a case of turning up with forms of ID (driving Licence, two recent utility bills - I find that very strange for a let?) and the money. I also need two forms of ID (driving licence & two utility bills) for the van, which is convenient.

My plan is to load up the car with boxed up stuff now, and leave about 8:30, avoid the rush hour traffic, get to Storecheckers' office and drop off the goods. Then head to the letting agents and sign the paperwork. I'm hoping that they can push the "check-in" forward because as it stands the appointment's not until 2pm. I guess it gives me time to (get coffee?) unload stuff from my car, find the van and meet Jane.

Loading the car is always fun. Finding the lowest value stuff possible to put in there. Don't wanna have laptop, stereo, CD player, kitchen equipment, electronics or anything valuable in there overnight. Tempting fate is a hobby one really should never try.

The Kinks in concert on BBC Four. It's a fabulous concert and I recognise almost all the songs they've played, despite thinking that I wouldn't know any of them. Am quite pleased.

My surround sound speakers are gone! I've had them for about a year and a half doing nothing, tried to sell them several times but got nowhere. Freecycle was my best friend and it worked a treat. I now have an empty patch in the corner over there *points*. Whoo!

(Just ignore the bedroom, which has barely been touched. The clothes won't take that long though, I guess, and the books will go anywhere.)
