No, Longness doesn't work either. Longevity?
A long weekend.
Thirsday evening, Jane's. Caught Who Will Buy first rehearsal. Looked pretty good. Pub, home. Sleep. Early morning, drive to London, see mum, go to Thai place for lunch, yummy. Go to town, meet [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle, have a few drinks, meet [livejournal.com profile] caddyman eventually, go see Les Mis. Good show.

Saturday was family, granddad's 80th birthday party. Long day indeed but fun, nice to see family who I haven't seen in a long long time. 12yrs or so for everyone apart from one small branch :) Also gooey chocolate cake made with no flour, but LOTS of eggs, chocolate and almonds.

Sunday, drive back to West Felton, partake in carnival goodness. Fun. Very tired by this point, really wanted to sleep. People kicking off in the local pub reminded me of, well... Coronation Street or Eastenders. Shouts of "leave it, he's not worth it" or "That's linda's *son* barry!" every now and then until the cops were called and they scarpered. I missed that bit, such a shame.

Monday, haircut at last! Only been needing one for about a month. Home.

That were eeeasy.

No real advance on recent news. We had a meeting with the new boss and very little was actually answered. I asked about a timetable for change, which hopefully will be provided at the next meet up on Monday.

Ian and Lee have been interviewing peeps today, so fingers crossed within a few weeks we'll be slightly quieter again and I'll be able to get on with my side-tasks of writing some docs and doing some testing on ADSL router setups again rather than answering a hundred calls in the day and getting stressed that nobody else appeared to be around for more than 30 seconds. Bah.

There appears to be some concern at work with the new job titles. We're becoming "field application engineers" with an emphasis on the phones, however both Matt and Malcolm, who are _actual_ field engineers with an emphasis on the field are to have the same job titles. The only difference is the emphasis in the job description.

Now I can't help feel this is a petty thing to worry about, but damnit - if I have the same job title as someone, I expect the same perks as them! The company car, mobile and laptop would be lovely thank you. Not going to happen any time soon though. I expect they'll change the titles...

The other thing, of course, is that if we're going to start going out into the field, isn't that involving lots more responsibility on our part? It's one thing to project a professional image on the phone, that's easy. It's a completely different thing in person.

Questions which should be answered soon. Hopefully.

Last small gripe - Daresbury move has been put back to September. August I could just about cope with. A month back. However we're now 2 months overdue, and this means 2 months more of commuting than I expected. I'm considering asking for some travel expenses as I made my decisions based on a move at the end of July!
