On the job-front, nothing has changed. Pretty much as expected the day of announcing whether the vacancy was being advertised internally or not has come and gone without so much as a murmur. Not wanting to be a nuisance I haven't asked yet but will be doing so on Monday, as I want to know as soon as possible.

I'm currently exploring iTunes replacements for Linux, having once again installed a variant. This time it's Ubuntu, on my laptop. It's recognised all the useful stuff remarkably easily - wireless, iPod, external hard drives, mice, sound cards, display... all really easy. The last hurdle has been an iTunes replacement.

Well, not strictly true. There are plenty and the ones I've tried have all been good. But they all require that I re-set-up everything. All the playlists, all the nicely ordered stuff... GTKPod claims to be able to import iTunes databases but damned if I can figure out how. The docs claim there is an import button but can I see it? Nope!

I'm generally impressed, though, at how much things have come on since I used SuSE 6.x. Saying that, I do miss having an overall config tool - YaST was good in the config sense. And Jane seems impressed too mostly, though the majority of things she's doing are Web and LJ - neither of which matters really as Firefox runs on just about anything these days. Getting YouTube to work has probably been the biggest challenge so far!

Jane's currently at her Parents' after rehearsal, off to the Doc's tomorrow, and picking up her newly repaired car. Huzzah. No longer shall it stall randomly at junctions ;)

October 23rd to the 27th, IIRC. Oswestry Musical Theatre Company present their production of Cole Porter's "Anything Goes" - a musical farce set mainly on board the SS American.

You get to see me dressed as a sailor, sing in a quartet, and generally make a fool of myself ;) Along with several other people, of course. It's hard work but good fun overall.
