I spent all morning today doing things. Stuff. I looked at a cheap (£250 pcm) flat in Wallace St., Port Glasgow which was nice enough. Unfortunately, the area... well... it's not unpleasant, but it didn't make me think "nice, I can see myself staying here for a while". I get the impression it is mainly council/DSS, which isn't always bad, but...

I can't quantify it, or even explain it.

Then I saw another flat in Lynedoch (pronounced Linndoch) St., which was the exact opposite. Quite a bit more expensive (£325pcm) but it's gorgeous. Good enough area, 10 mins walk from work. Clean and well decorated place. 1st floor furnished flat with (almost) stunning views. The only question now is "can I afford it"?

And I don't know. I truly don't. I want to be able to, I want to say "yes" now, as I don't think it's going to be around to rent for long. Considering it was their only 1 bed flat on the books...

Looking at it sensibly. That would leave me with almost exactly £325 pcm to spend on everything else. I could get rid of the car, as I would be that much closer to work. That removes my major expenses, and although it is a shame, having spent a fair bit of cash on it, we'd prolly get the same amount of money as we paid for it. Council tax would be £82.something pcm (-25% single occupancy allowance). I'm paying somewhere in the region of £100 a month on debt repayments. That leaves about £180 a month?

Is that unrealistic?
It is... isn't it?
Or is it?
It's too nice to say no......
