I drove up to Hatfield in the end. Decided I couldn't be dealing with the trains and underground, it's a hassle getting from Notting Hill Gate to Kings Cross with no circle/district line trains. Now, I planned out my route to Hatfield well. A40, A420, then the M1 to Hatfield. Right? Well actually... no. I didn't know the A1(M) and M1 were different roads down there. *looks embarassed*. I drove up and down between junctions 9 and 10 on the M1 a couple of times before I figured out where I'd screwed up. Grabbed a map and figured if I drove at ridiculous speeds I could JUST make it to Hatfield on time, if I could only remember where the TMUK campus is when I got there!

I drove like an idiot. I'm not proud of it, I'm not happy about it, but if I hadn't of driven at breakneck speeds down the M1 and across the M10 then I would never have made it on time. As it was, I got there with 5 minutes to spare.

I wrote briefly about the interview yesterday, and I have nothing much more to add. Standard TM two-stage interview, one with the techies (hiring manager) and one with HR (competencies). Fingers crossed I'll hear something tomorrow. If not, then Monday. The most exciting thing was that I stopped at Tesco Extra on the way back and picked up a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts which I promptly forgot this morning.

As I also mentioned yesterday, mum and dad took me out to dinner. Mum and I had wandered along Portobello Road to buy some stuff for them from the market, and were planning on going to the Thai place above the pub near the railway bridge at the bottom end (can't remember pub name now...), but got distracted by Food at the Muse, because it looked interesting and the menu was good enough to drool at.

Table booked for 7, we turned up and the manager/owner person greeted us really enthusiastically. Friendly guy, happy to spend time talking even though they were busy. The food was astounding, from the pre-starters (some kind of cheese which was vicious but lovely, chorizo sausage and others), starters (warm chorizo salad), my main course (lamb with something fruity and chilli-ish, name's eluded me) and the sides (crushed new potatos with garlic and chives and peas, green/broad beans with mint).

We were fed wine by the waitress expertly. Went through two bottles between the three of us. Was utterly shocked by the bill when it arrived, as the food wasn't _that_ expensive (£13 main course, £5 pudding, £4 starters), but it came to £125 for the 3 of us. Meep. Wine, side dishes and bottled water are surprisingly expensive!

Home, sleep. Well, attempt to sleep. Failed miserably, I was still up and watched some of the baseball game on at 1am. Explains why I feel so pants now, eh?
