Wow indeed. A truly striking film. First and foremost, nearly 3hrs long from trailers to credits. 2hrs 45mins. Is it bad or wrong of me to have trouble identifying any difference between Leonardo DiCaprio and Matt Damon? Me and faces just don't go well together.

There is lots, loads, buckets full of violence and blood and brains and guts being splattered on just about every surface you can imagine. More people died than I care to think about. The storyline was predictable up to a point yet thoroughly engaging.

The basic premise - cop goes undercover in attempt to get the big boss, however the big boss has a rat in the force - isn't new or particularly clever. It is however skilfully executed. The most astonishing character by far is Jack Nicholson. He is sleezy, thoroughly disgusting, hateful, spiteful, untrustworthy, untrusting, and all round unpleasant. Based on his performance you could easily believe that man exists somewhere.

And, this will only make sense to probably one person... if they ever read this anyhow! The accent made me smile just about every line ;) It's set in Boston. That took me back a few years.
