Oh, one other advance. Well, I call it an advance...

I dug out a copy of Visual Studio (VB.Net) 2003 and installed it on my work PC. I've been exploring the possibilities of writing a client to retrieve files from our units which would be helpful in a troubleshooting situation. We have ways of doing this at the moment, but it's using batch files and TST10.EXE (Telnet Scripting Tool), which is fine for what it does, but too limited to be of any serious use, and unfortunately we'd need either different versions of the tool for different units (even different variants of the same unit) or make the menus in it so deep that it becomes unusable.

So I'm working on a GUI based tool. Trying to figure out Winsock programming all over again. I've got a connection made to the telnet server on the remote machine, and can send/receive data, in a fashion. This is a positive start, but right now I don't think I've got it right.

If anyone can point me to a VB.Net (Visual Studio 2003) example Telnet project, or even just sample code, I'd be happy beyond happy. I've found a few but they're all for later versions or use proprietary components. Perhaps I'm being overzealous hoping to do it all using raw winsock stuff. In which case - can anyone recommend a free (even just for personal use) component that makes doing a telnet session through VB.net easy?
