This weekend had been mightily pleasant, with some rehearsal, some pottering, some cooking, some sleeping in, some celebration, some chinese and nursing a hungover [livejournal.com profile] pipsytip.

heheheh :)

Tomorrow is auditioning for Jekyll & Hyde. I'm not particularly worried because I'm the only person auditioning for the part, but I am worried as there's 2 people going for Jekyll, and both of them are capable of doing the part of Utterson. It is forseeable that I could be sidelined by them.

I am bored out of my box by Cranford. It's all very pretty and stuff but it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. The storyline is pleasant but seems mostly "safe". The life of a costume-drama actor is dull, most of all.

Next week is work, and there's a week off after that, during which I shall sleep, sleep, take Janey out for lunch, and sleep some more. I shall also try to do some Christmas shopping, though I only have about 3 presents to buy as my parents will be away at Christmas and well, there's only _really_ a Janey after that.

Laptop is still with Lakeside, feel a little like it's taking the piss now, will call tomorrow and see what's going on.

Watched De-Lovely tonight. It's gorgeous! Really well designed and shot, loads of clever shooting and editing. Wonderful storyline but that can't be attributed to the writers really ;)

No plans this weekend - time to sleep!

Derren Brown was just on, and I missed the beginning. I caught the bit where he hypnotised someone and then got them into a photo-me booth where they were re-sleeped and secretly transported to Marakesh before being revived! That was so cruel, but SO funny! I tried not to laugh at the poor guy's reaction but I couldnt help but think an actor would do well to study his look of utter bewilderment :)

I blame the beer. I took a beer-break from packing. I've got the living room 99% done, the kitchen 80% done, the bedroom is a state but it's mainly clothes and I'm planning on doing that next. That leaves... uhhm... well that's about it really ;) A small home has to have some advantages!

Heroes is good, isn't it?
I've got Season 1 on DVD from a colleague and I've watched 9 eps in the past 2 nights. No wonder I was exhausted this morning and today :) It's very well written and the individual threads intertwine so neatly, they just slot into place effortlessly.

Yuhhuh.

That can make me laugh out loud repeatedly. At least not on telly. However, I've found that when given a serious viewing, Green Wing provides this and much more.

I love the surreality (real word?) of the environment and the situations, the characters are well-formed, constantly evolving and the incidental music is perfectly placed.

I can't handle much more than an episode at a time, the surreality is just too much. It's also quite hard work!

Damn Ruth and John, it's all their fault. On Zone Reality there's a TV program "cheaters". It's real life infidelity captured on camera. It's awful but it's compulsive.

Right now I don't mind how bad it is. I have champagne, I have thar internet, what else could a boy need?

This is surprisingly addictive viewing. A bunch of "ladettes" stuck in a finishing school, hosting dinner parties and events for the hoi polloi, various viscounts and dukes and generally very well-to-do young men.

It's quite funny but also quite interesting seeing the reactions of some of these people to their emerging femininity, which has been shoved down inside them so far they didn't know it was there. Most of them seem to like it, though are not necessarily admitting in public!

This evening has seen me turning into a spinning top, a whirlwind of activity. I have bought new hoover bags, hoovered, dusted all the surfaces I can find and reach, tidied, put away, cleaned, arranged washing piles for offpeak electricity as I am attempting to be a cheapskate, considering my latest electricity bill!

You know, it's suddenly got very cold. Not helped by having two windows open, admittedly, but what's the point of cleaning if it feels stuffy?

Found a new download source for the On The Wire podcast.

Today at work has been bloody insane. I had two seperate things that I was trying to investigate, one potentially major problem and another problem which although not major, could be annoying. I didn't get a chance to complete either of those, because there were only 3 people in almost all bleeding day and the punters were being spectacularly thick.

Watching a Town Called Eureka on Sky One, which is a really good Sci-Fi-ish series. Not necessarily the stongest storylines but the way it's done is engaging.

Uploaded a whole bunch of photos to my Vox account because it's so darned easy. Uploading pics to FotoBilder and integrating things doesn't seem quite so simple.

I have 2 spare tickets to go see a recording of "The Deadly Knowledge Show" hosted by Dave Berry on Friday the 25th August at 4:00pm. If anyone would like to come along with Jane and me, please email me at the address on my info, or text/call me on my mobile - available to those who know and to those who ask.

The recording's taking place at Whiteley's centre on Queensway, West London (W2 4SB).

At the moment we have no other firm plans for the weekend. Anyone in London or the southern area fancy doing anything on Sat, Sun or Mon of the bank holiday weekend? We'll have a car, so anything goes :)

I've sat and watched Monty Python's the Meaning of Life. It wasn't at all as good as I expected. Vaguely disappointing.

Once again I appear to be up far too late. Never quite sure how this happens. I aim to be in bed by 11pm and well... 11pm comes, goes, and flies off into the distant past. I've got too many years of conditioning to undo. Perhaps I should just admit that I'm not built for mornings and get a night shift job :)

Happy birthdays go out to [livejournal.com profile] ellefurtle and [livejournal.com profile] miracle7077, thanks to Semagic and it being midnight.

I fancy a gin... is it too late for gin?
