My current landlord has agreed to take notice from the 24th March, which means my tenancy now ends on the 23rd April instead of the 6th March. This is over 2 weeks worth of paying rent for 2 properties saved. This is fabulous moneysaving news and reduces my stress by a factor of a million.

List to be worked on still. REALLY need to contact Demon, BT and Sky as they are the big 3.

Our references are good! *cheers* The house is ours subject to contracts being returned and whatnot. I asked about putting the date back by a week but they declined, saying that the landlord wasn't happy about the 1 month lead time as it was. Tough, I say. I'm going to struggle next month but hey, it's all worth it, right?

Current move date 14th April. Who's going to help out then? :P

Ordered demon net connection about a week ago. Expected activation? 25th April. How can it take over 2 weeks to turn on ADSL? In the meantime I'm stuck with only my MDA, which only vaguely satisfies my needs.

Also my big computer is officially dead. It's been dying for a long time with me being scared to reboot it as it often required fiddling between boots to work ok.

On the move day I left it free standing in the car while we went out somewhere and it fell over while going over the speed bumps, sounded nasty. Now just get single long beeps on power up with just power, CPU and m/b connected.

Must get email off hard drive. Nothing else is too important.

Life here is good. I am happy. Work is good now that I have a PC with email, and a desk with 4 grands worth of CCTV equipment on it. Unfortunately I don't yet have any cameras to plug into it... d'oh.

My flat is looking good. It's very warm and cosy, it's 5 mins walk from a nature reserve, it's absorbed all of my stuff, it's in a very quiet area and I appear to have very quiet neighbours, mostly.

I'n going to try and arrange some kind of mini-warming... mini because it's not that bog :)

Only a week to go until a real spod connection... yay!

House... check
Job... check
Furniture... check

Really sore and tired Phil... check.
No internet connection, just ordered Demon ADSL so with any luck won't be long.

Moving out and in was not much fun, much improved by having a Jane to help on the way in, and a Dawn on the way out.

Photos will follow, probably next week when I feel vaguely sane and connected back to the web!

The Kinks in concert on BBC Four. It's a fabulous concert and I recognise almost all the songs they've played, despite thinking that I wouldn't know any of them. Am quite pleased.

My surround sound speakers are gone! I've had them for about a year and a half doing nothing, tried to sell them several times but got nowhere. Freecycle was my best friend and it worked a treat. I now have an empty patch in the corner over there *points*. Whoo!

(Just ignore the bedroom, which has barely been touched. The clothes won't take that long though, I guess, and the books will go anywhere.)

I'll stop being Murray Walker now.

Van (re-)arranged after Enterprise screwed me over, and very nice lady from 1van1 called me to make sure I knew where I was going. Whoo. Call received from the lady at Jordans who advised that LetsXL forwarded on my policy details to them without any bother.

Now it's just a case of turning up with forms of ID (driving Licence, two recent utility bills - I find that very strange for a let?) and the money. I also need two forms of ID (driving licence & two utility bills) for the van, which is convenient.

My plan is to load up the car with boxed up stuff now, and leave about 8:30, avoid the rush hour traffic, get to Storecheckers' office and drop off the goods. Then head to the letting agents and sign the paperwork. I'm hoping that they can push the "check-in" forward because as it stands the appointment's not until 2pm. I guess it gives me time to (get coffee?) unload stuff from my car, find the van and meet Jane.

Loading the car is always fun. Finding the lowest value stuff possible to put in there. Don't wanna have laptop, stereo, CD player, kitchen equipment, electronics or anything valuable in there overnight. Tempting fate is a hobby one really should never try.

The universe hates me.
Today I get a phone call from Enterprise saying that the van that I'd booked online isn't available. I get 24 hours notice, and now find that getting a van anywhere locally is virtually impossible. I've found one, but it needs to be returned to the place by 1030 on Saturday, which isn't impossible, but is going to be a stretch.

I do have one other possible option, but I don't know if it's even an option.

So - not only does this happen, but at the same time I call up Jordans to check that they received a fax from LetsXL. They claim not to have done - LetsXL swear they have sent it. Gah! What am I supposed to do? I ask them to send it again and get told it'll be done straight away. I then leave it 10 minutes or so to give them time and check again. Nothing. I'm going to leave it until 3pm, if nothing happens then I am going to be mightily furious.

I've not had a good day at all.
