I just received some interesting email. Only problem being that I am now very confused.

Here it is in it's entirety:
From : "W.T.S. Thevarajah" <****@hermes.cam.ac.uk>
To : <phil-sumner@hotmail.com>, <phil_sumner@hotmail.com>, <philip-sumner@hotmail.com>, <philip_sumner@hotmail.com>
Date : Mon, 1 Apr 2002 19:41:13 +0100 (BST)

Hi Phil,
I need to contact you soon, to ask you some doubts in Stats (you favourite subject!). I forgot your email address therefore I'm trying 4 guesses.

Please reply if you get this message

Wesley

Jesus College,
Cambridge

Problem here being - that I don't know anyone called Wesley. Nor do I know anyone called Wesley from Cambridge Uni... nor did I ever study stats at Uni. This is very weird :)

Do I reply or not? The decision is yours!
Mood:: 'confused' confused

Probably some very clever spam aimed at learning your email address. I'd ignore it. It sounds too chatty and familiar for someone you don't think you know.

I don't really care if my hotmail box gets spammed - that's all it ever gets, and then there's this random email of course :)

But it's just so weird...

I've had a similar thing happen on 2 different occasions.

The first time I was mistaken for someone else via email I waited quite awhile (several months) to reply and inform the person sending the email that they had the wrong "Jamey"... The reason I waited so long was 'cause the person sending me the emails (quite a few of them) told fantastic jokes - and I hated for them to stop. Hehe.:)

The second time this happened I replied immediately that I wasn't the person they thought I was... but the person kept sending me emails - some very personal. Apparently she didn't quite grasp the concept that I was not who she thought I was. Finally, after I replied twice more, she got the idea... She wrote one last time, apologizing and sending me a pic of her "Jamey" - "Jamey" - my god - he looked like the Hunchback of NotreDame. :p

"very personal"? To the hunchback?
I feel bad for you, having to read it all *g*

I like the idea of waiting to see if I get any more interesting mails, but I get the feeling he'll only carry on asking for help with stats homework!

I just did a search for my name "Wesley Thevarajah" and found that an email I sent to an old friend of mine from Cambridge University ended up in your mail box. Yes, his name is Philip Sumner. He graduated an year before me. It turned out that his email is neither of the 4 guesses I tried!! Please accept my apologies for any convenience caused.

Thanks,
Wesley
