I got the letter today from the DSS (or whatever they're called nowadays) telling me I'm getting money, yay! A measley £42 a week, but hey - it's more than I am getting right now. What's the betting I get a job next week? lol

My mum and I were going to go out grocery shopping after I signed on, yet when we got to the supermarket (Asda, now part of the Wal*Mart brand), found a sign outside the door saying "closed from 10:30am-1pm as a mark of respect.......". ARGH! As was Safeway. FEH! I also heard on the radio that Aberdeen city centre turned all the traffic lights to red for two minutes, how ridiculous is that?

::Growl:: Reminds me of when the summer Olympics were here in Atlanta in '96. Holly and I went out the night before opening ceremony to watch the Olympic torch runners. It was hot, and the runners were hours late - and all the air-conditioned stores along the way (where we could have gone for some relief from the heat) had signs on their doors: "Closed for the Torch" ... Gimme a break!

*smiles* Isn't it ironic, dontcha think? </badQuote>

It gets me sometimes, what people will do when something comes along they consider to be important. The real reason I was so miffed, I suppose, was that the people who made these decisions (turning all the traffic lights to red is an extreme example) obviously hadn't thought about the impact they were having on people who simply didn't care.

We'd gone out at that time, specifically to avoid it all... *sighs* I really should organise my thoughts before I start writing! :)
