Or just wasting time? No, I'm being productive. Today I have learnt two very important lessons - number 1: make sure you are doing what you think you are doing, and number 2: always make sure you know what fomat your data is in before you start to manipulate it :)

Been playing around with HTML::Template today, which is REALLY useful. Allows you to (effectively) put loops and branches and conditionals inside HTML pages (sort of). Guess it's like ASP or ColdFusion, but with a complete seperation of content and style? Hmmm.

Had almost all day to myself and been fairly good. I hoovered the living room and the computer rooms, did all my washing, and half the drying (Damn washing machine might be incredibly efficient but takes between an hour and an hour and a half to do a load). Cooked, made some (not much, but some) progress on my client, and learnt a fair whack about Perl in the process.

I'm also turning into a comment slut. Oops! When did this happen? :)

I remember learning HTML::Template for a project early last year. (Probably forgotten it by now, or half-forgotten it, but I suspect it would be easier to learn again if I needed to.) Good module. Never finished my part of the project, but that's another story.

It's just so incredibly useful. OK what it does you could essentially do easily with any perl script but that's not the poink - the absolute seperation of code and design is what makes it.

Unfortunately I don't need it any more, so ain't using it, but very glad I got a small chance to play with it.
