How disheartening it is to find that recruitment agencies now minimise their contact with real people. I called in on 4 agencies today with regard to registering with them - 2 told me to use their websites to register, and one asked me to email my CV to them.
It's quite disheartening, and I came back from Glasgow feeling really down that in effect my trip had been a failure. Fine, I can register with them online, but ya know - it's not at all the same. There are just some things that are just much better done with real people sometimes. I'd like to know that someone has taken the time to look at my CV and thought "hmm, this might suit him" rather than reading a report which ignores me for job x because I don't have the 2 months commercial experience they want.
Yes I know I'm supposed to be a geek and love the internet and all it can bring. And overall I do. But human contact is also a very important part of the process for some services.
