I went along to the Meadow Centre this morning, only to be told that I would have to take an induction course before I would be allowed to take out a membership. Tried to persuade the lady that I'd been a member of many gyms before but they're very insistent about it. Next annoyance - the next available appointment (evening and weekend) is on the 23rd, next Sunday... damn. Ach well, I guess it's better than nothing.

I am also today rather pissed off with the TV. BBC1 - Eastenders. BBC2 - Tennis. ITV - Footie. C4 - Cricket. What a-load-a-rubbish. I'm going to have to dig out my "End of the Affair" video, I think. Either that or Red Dwarf. I really wish that my folks would hurry themselves up and get Sky :)

Speaking of RD - anyone heard anything more about the film? Due out in 2002, but the status on IMDB is now saying "Filming". Seems to have taken forever.

I went along to Braehead today. I knew this would be a bad idea. Malls on a vaguely sunny/rainy afternoon are bound to be busy - Braehead wasn't tooooo bad but it was so humid it was unpleasant to have to deal with wankers who don't understand how to use an escalator. I bought myself H2G2 tapes (Easier to buy pre-recorded than to hook up computer to stereo) and Bill Bryson's "Notes from a Small Island" on tape. And another book whose title I can't remember, but it's in the car.

Last night I was in bed by 10:30, and I slept through until 10:30am - only waking up once at about 9:00am, for no apparent reason. I think I needed it, but I still feel quite tired... maybe try to get the same again tonight. Weirdest thing is though, that even though I complain about being tired lots of the time, I actually do get a consistent 8hrs a night...

The same happened with me. The reason I gather is that they will have it on record that you were showed the correct procedures of their gym. And so if the customer is not inducted, and if anything like an accident happened, then the gym would be negligent. They also have to ascertain the customer's health and level of fitness, or talk over their needs, and so treat everyone as new. All gyms as far as I know have to include an induction. I may be wrong, but thats my guess :)

Oh I understand why and all, it's just frustrating. It means now that I'm not going to be able to start for another week when I'm fairly sure they won't have anything there I'm not comfortable using. (And even if they did, I wouldn't be stupid enough to go about using the damn stuff now!)

Yeah, I do see why they do it - was listening to something on Radio 4 the other day about us becoming a particularly litigous society... bad news...
