I simply adore this song - Otis Redding is one of those artists that I wish that I knew much more about, along with Nina Simone, who has possibly the most wonderful singing voice of all those that I know. Must keep an eye out for the album that someone played to me which made me realise just how amazing it is.
Does anyone out there know of a half-decent PIM/Calendar/Reminder program that sits in the taskbar and will do visual / audio alerts with configurable alert tones (which WAV) and alarms? I want something like Outlook's calendar, but since I never use Outlook for mail anymore, it's impractical to start (hell - to Install) Outlook just for the calendar.
TV today has been shite. I'm currently reading: Amitav Ghosh - The Glass Palace (link to Bookshop.co.uk, since Amazon took over what used to be Waterstones' fabulous website... I don't like the Amazon design...). Described on the cover as "A Doctor Zhivago for the Far East". Only on page 8 so far, simply because every time I've sat down to read so far today, I've been interrupted by someone or something. Really frustrating. But it's quite interesting already...
I'm going to have to start going on an MP3 downloading and CD burning spree soon. Random music in the car is good. Unfortunately, of all the CDs I have, it's getting harder to find something that I actually want to listen to either first thing in the morning or after a pain in the ass day at work. First thing in the morning is normally easy enough - a choice between The Orb, Orbital or something classical. Evenings though... I need to start making my own compilations.
I keep on looking at house renting websites, and it's really weird - lots of the houses that I see coming up are obviously not very popular, they have been there for a month or more, some available since April. It's not that they're not being updated either, since I check the agents' websites too. Not good...
I think I should see if Louise is still wanting to rent out that room... as much as I said I wouldn't share... at least 6 months of that would be better than 6 months of this, and then I'd be in a position to at least look at buying without falling over and fainting. Hmmm. Or then again, for the £250 a month she's asking, I could prolly get somewhere cheap and small in Greenock (or the Port...) on a short term let.
