I downloaded and installed a load of the Powertools for XP this evening - some of them are fantasic ideas... for example, there's a virtual desktop manager (4 desktops), an alternative Alt-tab thingie (that gives a preview of the window you are switching to), and some other stuff which is actually quite useful. Problem being that since I still haven't gotten a copy of Partition Magic, and having little disk space left on this partition, I can't actually install (and use - I can install and not use) them. Grrr, I thought 3yrs ago that 6Gb would last me forever!

Oh well, eh?

Late Night Poker Finals - an hour and a half of cheesy TV - but what fun! Even before I started playing poker after work at the Commodore I found it fascinating - I just had no idea what was going on. After a while of playing on Saturday nights, I really got into it. And still enjoy watching now.

You wouldn't think that poker could be exciting at all. The commentators are just so damn excited and enthusiastic in everything about the game, that you could just listen to them and enjoy it. They do explain very briefly, and you've really got to be quick to figure out what's going on at times. But. But... yeah.

Oooo love this song. Don't know what it is. Song on the advert for Channel 4 - "Rise"? Anyone got any clues? I am sure I shouold know the artist but I just can't place it. Annoying.

In a desperate search to find the correct spelling of that well known Krankies catchphrase, I appear to have stumbled blindly across what could possibly be the one site with the most disgusting and horrific content I have ever seen.

By my last post, I've been working a little on my client. I'm starting to wonder what to do with it next. I mean it's not perfect by any means, but any new features I can think of adding won't be teaching me anything new, which was the purpose of starting it.

I'll think of something, am sure. I need to go out with my folks sometime soon and see if I can persuade them to buy me a decent Visual C++ (not for dummies, not for advanced users) book. Then I could try and get a bit done on a Windows client, muhahahaaaa!

(It's quite nice actually, developing LJ clients, because it gives a good taste of the various aspects - design, networking, string handling, using objects (if desired), file I/O, allsorts of stuff). And it's something I have an interest in, which means that I'll carry on with it.

Have I found my vocation in life? [livejournal.com profile] bradfitz, employ me as a full time author, please?! *lol*

Hunt for the Red October is on tonight at 2315 on BBC1! However, Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl is on Paramount Comedy as well. This is a challenge. What to watch?

Hunt is fantastic, music in the film is haunting, and let's just face it - Sean Connery is a God.

Whereas Monty Python is hilarious and silly. And would be fun.

I think the decision has been made for me - Hunt for the Red October wins everything for me. I could watch that film over and over and over and over and still be happy to watch it again!
