I'm currently a little unhappy.
My car, my pride and joy (well, not quite, but I may as well ham this up as best I can), my little cage of metal and plastic... is sick.

Not very sick, mind you.
Sick enough that I can't practically drive any distance.
Guess what's wrong.
Go on.
It's something _tiny_ that you wouldn't think would affect the car's drivability.

Bloody Cars.
I wouldn't be so annoyed if it were something big, like the engine - or brakes. To have a trip down south possibly disturbed by something as daft as this is frustrating.

I have an impending parental visit tomorrow :) YAY!

England currently 468-4, only 16 behind! OMG! I am astounded. This has been a wonderful day's cricket from what I have seen. Wish I was there.

My dad gave me a warning today about a Virus he had contracted on his compie - apparently it disguised itself as a process called "unwise.exe" and deleted all the associations on his PC - to the point where Windows didn't know what to do with a ".exe" file ;) *chuckles* He said it was an RPC thingie, one that just snuck in when he put his PC back on the wireless network before enabling the firewall. Oops :)

I neglected to point out that there are very few linux virii (is it virii or viruses?) in existence ;) Besides, my router acts as a kinda firewall by doing NAT, the only ports that are open get directed to mainpc and they're SSH, Web, and POP3. Thassit. I think...

And what have I done? I've got my parents coming over on the day before my Dad's birthday, I've got ESD (Enlightenment Sound Daemon) working so that xmms streams audio from my laptop to mainpc (it's inconvenient to have loads of wires poking out the laptop across the room, and the strero jack seems a bit tempremental, so why not plug it into the one that already has loads of wires poking in and out of it and are well hidden?), and I've updated XMMS from 1.2.7 to 1.2.8.

Wow.
Oh, and made a booking at Morgan's for tomorrow. It's my dad's birthday on Monday and he's gonna be away, in return for them coming over here I'll surprise them with a nice meal out, thanks to Mr Paycheque.

Now?
Now I go shopping, and hope it doesn't rain whilst I am in the supermarket.

Do you have any idea how frustrating this is?

I went to my car, to go shopping.
I put in the key, turned it, and heard something on the back windscreen go "swoosh". I felt cold air against my hand.
I experimentally pulled on the windscreen wiper stalk, and bingo. The damn things worked.

ARGH!

I have an intermittent fault on my hand. I have the distinct feeling it's going to be temperature related - because I remember when I took Jane to Stirling, the fans didn't work at first, until we got going along the motorway, and that was a really REALLY hot day.

*sighs* Folks are still coming over, gonna head out to Morgan's in town and take them out for lunch anyhow. Yum.

Gonna watch Insomnia on BBC4, I was all excited, then when it started I realised it was the original - not the remake - that they would have. Boo. Never mind, let's make the best of it.

As an addenum to my "what did I do with my Saturday night" post, I would just like to add that I have just got passwordless authentication set up for my LAN. I got fed up with typing my password as I've been doing lots of stuff on both machines.

It's made my life here so much easier!! *grins* Yes, I am easily pleased.
Mood:: pleased with myself
