What do you fall back on when you need something comforting and predictable?

My standby appears to have become Lost in Translation. I find myself reaching for it when i have some spare time and nothing to fill it, and despite now knowing the film forwards and sideways it still hits me emotionally. Maybe that's why i keep on coming back to it...?

Anyway... Do you have a 'standby' thing, and what is it?

I'm wondering about my laptop. I want it back and dagnabbit I chose a bad time to get it sent away - I forgot that it was Easter weekend. Not working "normal" office hours means that I don't have the kind of reminders that most "office based" workers do that this is "special time".

I'm growing steadily more and more anxious about the NATS assessment day in mid-April. It's about 3 weeks off yet but I'm finding it hard to keep it out of my thoughts. It's a difficult line to draw for me - I want to learn everything I can which means becoming involved, but becoming too involved really can't be healthy.

Should probably have arranged to go down to the parents' for longer than I did - I'm going down on Monday and coming back Tuesday. When I booked it I didn't want to take too much holiday and so on, and didn't want temptation to come my way for spending money down there (it's an expensive hobby, visiting the parents). Changing the tickets would cost a bit so I won't bother...

However Monday night I may grab some willing victim and try and take them to a pub or restaraunt somewhere and make sure I get a relatively early night - the assessment starts at 0930 the next day!
