Got 2 "routes" from Storecheckers today. The way Storecheckers work is that they give you a whole bunch of jobs to do in the same day. It can work out quite well, because it's a fixed fee per job, and one of the routes I have is 5 jobs - all phone calls and emails. The reports are _long_ (really long) and detailed but it'll all work out well because the fee's quite good. I'll have come out with over £40 after I've done 3 emails, and 3 phone calls.

So I've got two routes - one all phone calls for financial products, the other for stores around Yorkshire. I'm going to drive from home to Selby (North Yorks), then to Pontefract (West Yorks) to Wakefield (West Yorks), then back home again. Dread to think how many miles that is! Google maps puts Barnsley to Selby at 38 miles! Selby to Pontefract 22.6miles, Pontefract to Wakefield at 12.1 miles and Wakefield to Barnsley at 14 miles.

So... 86 miles. Yikes, at 24p/mile in expenses.... that's an extra 20 quid. And I'll never spend that much in petrol on that journey! Hurrah! Oh, and I've picked up a Subway job to do in Pontefract on the same day, which means a free lunch :) That's going to be a good day. 3 jobs at £x each, another £xx.. nice. Days like this Monday coming are why I actuallly enjoy doing what I do on my days off.

However, what I don't enjoy is the preparation. I've spent over two hours this evening making sure that my paperwork is in order for the coming week. Printed out more paper than I care to think about, used a half-ton of staples. Stayed up WAY later than I shoulda done, especially when I need to get to the post office early tomorrow. Damn.

I'm determined to do a good job for the Storecheckers lot because it's my first job for them so I don't mind too much.

Thinkin about it, I really don't know what I've done since I got home. I watched the Simpsons, then... well... spodded, really. Done a phone call, and a report. I guess that took me an hour or more. Then tidied my paperwork and orgnised myself. Sounds like so little.

Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez. I just got myself in a right state. I did the first half of a job for household insurance, requiring me to fill out a form online, and then get a followup call within 24hrs. I did this about 7:30pm, expecting a call back tomorrow.

So I then did another job, requiring a phone call to query some savings products, and was half way through typing that up, when the insurance people called me back! EEK! My notes in chaos, my pen and paper nowhere near, my mind already slightly confused by the previous call and having to enter these results - it got even worse when having to try to hastily recall the details I entered into the web page earlier and take notes on a call I could barely concentrate on!

This is why I dislike the jobs I do on my days off sometimes :)
