Work is dull. Nothing particularly good or bad. They're pushing overtime like it's going out of fashion because apparently, they're down 450hrs on the day tomorrow, chuckles. Wonder who screwed up that forecasting then?

I need to visit Worsbrough (spelt that wrong, I'm sure) Motor Spares in Stairfoot (why's it called Worsbrough Motor Spares when it's in Stairfoot I don't know) to try and pick up some brake pads and shoes for the car, 'cuz I meant to do it on the way home but forgot. I'm a silly Phil.

Just back from the pool at Living Well. Perfect way to cool off after a damn hot day.

This disjointed entry brought to you by tiredness and boredness.

Or something. I must be an electronics whizz (yeah right). My CD player has been giving me grief for a long time. It's a 5 CD changer that I inherited from my parents. It's ancient, but in pretty good nick, and a good brand.

The problem is that the spinny platter thingie has a habit of not recognising which disc it's at, and consequently spins out of control for upwards of 5 minutes before eventually realising that it should stop, and more often than not gets the wrong disc. I noticed that if I took off the lid and slowed the spinning down a little by sticking my finger on the platter as it span, it worked fine. Obviously not a viable long term solution :)

My permanent solution? A bit of paper between the spinning platter and the case. Provides enough friction to slow it down, but allows it to move freely. Simple, and now my CD player works perfectly again! YAY! Mix-tapes ahoy!

The T-Mobile position of Service Support Analyst (See it here) is mine. It's perfect. I have everything they want other than Oracle skills. However I have the massive advantage on my side (or so I see it) that I have current T-Mobile knowledge, I have system knowledge, product knowledge, procedural knowledge and have recently been a T-Mobile employee. And yes I know I whinged about them, but this job isn't in a bloody call centre!

I'm going to get it :)

The thing that annoys me about this potential position? I'm going to lose ALL my length of service. When TM sold Dearne Valley back in November, I kept my length of service (effectively, as far as anyone's concerned, I've been in the same job for 3yrs, despite it being a new company I work for). However, if I then move back to working within T-Mobile, I'm going to be back as a new employee with no length of service.

Ya know how frustrating that is? I've worked _for_ T-Mobile now for over 3 years, and I'm going to be treated as a newbie. At least I'll get my occupational final salary pension back, and maybe transfer my current payments into it. Think I can do that.

My bank have annoyed me by causing me hassle, and refused to assist me in fixing it. As such, after only 8 months with them, I am moving my account away to another provider.

I went over my overdraught limit back in May, by about £4 for less than 24hrs. Now I understand that this is bad. I was charged £30 by them over 2wks later and with no notice. I have no problems accepting this charge and why it was applied - but I was given no notice of it. This pushed my balance over the limit again (I was awaiting payment from some MSing I'd done, it went in within 2 days of this).

They are now trying to charge me again for the breach in June. I have emailed them several times now, explaining that if I'd have known they were charging me in June, I would have ensured there were funds there to cover it, and trying to explain that charging me £60 for going over my limit by a grand total of £4 is both unreasonable and ridiculous.

Their last response said that they would not take my correspondence on the matter any further and if I wished to complain "higher up the chain", I'd need to put it in writing to their complaints department, or something.

I'm not doing this, I'm just going to close my account with them, and move my bank account elsewhere. I've opened an account with the Alliance and Leicester, which are offering comparable in-credit interest rates to Cahoot, and 0% overdraught for up to 12 months. They also state that there is "no charge" on overdraught limit breaches for 1 day for the Prem Plus account.

See why companies should do what people think is reasonable, rather than be arsey about it? They've now lost my overdraught interest, credit card interest, any possible future loans I may have taken out with them, and so on. And hopefully I'll convince some other people that they're not worth the bother.

[Edit: I'm not mad - I'm not talking to myself in the comments, I had a comment from someone who's deleted it for some reason]
