(Kelly who I spent the bus journey to and from our brainwashing trip to Newcastle chatting with. Who I have decided is utterly insane.)

I promised her I would buy as much beer as I could carry. Unfortunately I didn't quite follow through on this promise, and bought 4 bottles of Innis & Gunn. Yummy.

I also bought more junk food that I know what to do with. However I also bought lots of fresh veg and stuff to cook with, so it all balances out, right?

In theory, I have a McDs drive through to do tomorrow for Breakfast. I don't know if I could cope with actually eating a McDs breakfast! Think of the grease... might get it and not eat it, which seems like the most sensible thing.

Tonight involved pizza from Morrisons', tomorrow I'm hoping to get the car serviced - or if not actually serviced then booked in for a service.

I got the parcel today I talked about yesterday.
Here are the facts:
  • It's come from Japan (I think - if not Japan, China, though I am fairly sure it's Japan).
  • I don't know who sent it
  • It had no return address
  • It was addressed to me, at my current address
  • It contained a "A Bathing Ape" zip up hooded top
  • There's no invoice, only what looks like a customs declaration, which said "Gift of Shoes" in the "what is this" field, just to confuse me.
So, can anyone explain?

At work, we were dragged off to Newcastle today for an inspirational show, or brainwashing session.

It was OK, though possibly nothing was actually said that we haven't heard before at previous similar sessions. It was good that we were invited, as TSC aren't usually invited to these events. It was quite cool, a well produced show and very professional! The actual content wasn't so hot, but the actress playing Abi was hot! So what else matters?

Anyhow, we set off about 12:30, got to Newcastle after what felt like forever, but probably only 2 and a half hours. I spent the journey chatting with Kelly, a new member of our team. Learnt lots about her, including that I think she's mad.

During the show we were split into teams and asked to do some stuff about identifying customers' needs. There were winners chosen from the teams, and the winners were given a new Sony Ericsson K608i. Unfortunately, our team didn't win though I suspect ours was the best :) What bugs me slightly is that whilst we'd made an effort to split up and not stay stuck within our own team, and mingled with the Doxford guys who were there - the entire team that won was TSC/Tech 2, bar one person I think. Bah.

What makes it worse is that I've been seriously considering upgrading to a K608i for months now :) Now if I do so I'll just look like a copycat! *G*

Beautiful Beautiful Backups.
Unusual to have any time to do it! Hopefully I've excluded all the appropriate directories this time so won't go through 5-million CDs with random huge files on that I forgot about. ACK - I forgot about that pilot ep of "A Bit of Fry and Laurie" stuck in my home directory... quick, let's delete it before Mondo gets to it ;)

I'm only backing up so I can upgrade, anyway. I'm moving on up to SuSE 10. Going to do a reformat and complete reinstall. I'm wondering how I'll deal with some of the more important stuff like email (probably tar it up and move it to the laptop temporarily), my zone files (don't wanna write those again!), my httpd.conf (not that hard to restore, but I can never remember what bits I changed!). I guess I may be as well to just start from scratch other than the mail and zone files.

Got a letter from The Met Police today. Saying that I needed to send a form to my bank to allow my credit card fraud to be investigated. So dilligently following process I sent it off. Wonder what's going to happen there.

Received part of my pay for the Manchester transport jobs today, hurrah. Slightly annoyed that they are now claiming to have lost my payclaim?! How? What? Who? I sent it back ages ago, and didn't bother sending it reg'd/special delivery because well... you don't expect this to happen. So now I'm just waiting to find out what happens next, and whether they're going to make me wait until next month to get paid. Growls.

I'm feeling horrendously hungover today, for some reason. I didn't drink much last night but all throughout today I've been feeling sore, headachy, churning stomachy and just plain rough. Why, body, why?

Backup done and tar Maildir | gzip > pmsumner.email.tar.gz done, YaST now running, albeit VERY slowly. My poor PIII 550 really struggles to run the graphical setup tool.

Let's see how well this works. *supresses a mad manic giggle*
