I've seen it twice (well, once fully and once in bits) now, and both times I have been struck by the soundtrack. It works so well. Every tune that's chosen fits the scene perfectly, and the Orbital "Beached" theme that runs through it is an utterly gorgeous piece of music.
Then there's the other piece that runs through the film, that I just can't remember what the song is called, darnit! Hopefully IMDb or similar will throw up my answer.
I have a promo of "Beached" by Orbital & Angelo Badalamenti, which I decided to dig out. Very good. Very very good. You know something random? I miss having a decent record shop about. I remember buying this. I remember going to Vinyl Exchange in Manchester with Caroline after we'd been for one of our Friday afternoon skives, and thinking "I can't afford this..." but spending £40 on promo CDs and stuff I wanted anyhow. That day I also bought Shivaree - Goodnight Moon. A track I heard once on the Evening Session or on John Peel's show, or something when I was walking home from Jackson's Boat, and never ever forgot.
As far as I'm aware, there's nothing like Vinnie's here. Nowhere that you can find as much promo material, or where you can find random music - second hand, even - for not much cash. And it's a shame, as I'd much rather buy from these shops than from HMV.
