As a folowup to my last post, I decided I couldn't wait for red reminders to justify going crazy, so decided to put my concerns over paying two suppliers for the same period of time in writing. Luckily, Scottish Power seem to have an email address that you can use. Powergen appear not to, which is not as annoying as it may be, because they do have a postal address well advertised.

Ahhhh, they seem to have an online billing service, think I'll check that and cc them in.

Subject: Transfer of electricity supplier
X-Mailer: Mutt 1.0.1i

RE Acc/No: xxxxxxxx8011

As may be evident from previous notes on my account, I have called a couple
of times today regarding transfer of Electricity from yourselves to
Powergen, I just wished to ensure that my concerns were put to yourselves in
writing. If I need to send in a letter to register my concerns, reply to
this email and let me know.

In late September 2002 I requested that my electricity supply be transferred
to Powergen.

I then received a letter dated 25th November 2002 from Powergen stating that
the transfer of my electricity supply was complete and Powergen were now my
suppliers. At that time I heard nothing further, and have been paying £19 a
month to Powergen by Direct Debit since then.

Today (18th March 2003) I received a bill dated 11th March 2003 for
electricity supply from 04 December 2002 through to 06 March 2003 from
yourselves.

Until I find out what's happening, and until I find out why I am currently
being asked to pay 2 electricity bills for the same period, to two different
suppliers, I will not be making payment to yourselves or Powergen (who have
also received a letter stating the same facts).

Many thanks for your time in this matter,
Phil Sumner

I think that you've sufficiently covered your ass, in a legal sense, with this e-mail. Now you have some sort of documentation. Hopefully, no legal action will need to be taken beyond that.

It's good that you saved the letters, looks as if they will be a good defense. Let us know how this all works out

I keep nearly all letters I get for a minimum of 6 months. "Nearly" all, because there's some useless crap you get sent sometimes :)

I've been well trained by my folks in that sense. Until about a month ago, I had every single payslip I ever received - 4yrs worth. Ook.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for a response...
