Calliste gave me these questions AGES ago. My apologies for leaving it so long, but I forgot completely that I saved this as a draft in LogJam on mainpc (my network naming is so imaginative... "mainpc", "router" and "laptop"!)

What aspects do you like/dislike about women?
Women are (in general) soft and squidgy.
Women seem to have more time for the things I want people to have time for, than most blokes.
Women are pains in the proverbial ass sometimes.
The problem with this question, is that anything I write is based on the women I know, and they tend to be of... a particular "type".

What are your talents?
I'd rather not answer this one myself :)
Uhhm.
I think I'm a good listener.
Uhhm.

I'll think on it...

When listening to music, to what extent do you listen to the lyrics? Do you feel comfortable with lyrics in a language that you cannot understand?
I tend not to listen to the lyrics at first, I listen to the music at first. Whilst that does include the lyrics as a sound, I'm not listening to what the words mean. If it's the kind of song I'm listening to after all that listening to the music, I'll switch my attention to the lyrics.

I quite often listen to music with non-english lyrics. If I can find a translation it's nice, but not essential. It's always nice to actually know what the lyrics mean rather than just relying purely on the music.

What do you think you'll be doing for the next (approximately) 40 years till you are too old to work?
I honestly think I'll be doing a bit of this, a bit of that, trying to find what I want to do for the next 40yrs. I don't have a dream job, I don't have a goal where I want to be in my career, and I really don't know what I want from life. So I'll do what I can, until I find something I truly enjoy.

What is more important: Family or friends?
The unpopular answer... Friends. My family and I have never been close. I'm a lot closer to most of my friends than I ever have been with my folks.

you got questions from [livejournal.com profile] calliste. i'm so jealous!

nobody ever sent me any questions *sniff*

although i've just sat here and thought about what i think about women for about 3 minutes and not really come to any sensible conclusions so its probably for the best.

Did you ask anyone for an "interview"?

The questions pretty much impossible to answer, I think. You could answer it but it would be about a specific woman, or group of women.

Or maybe I don't know enough women :)

no. i never asked. i suppose he who doesn't ask doesn't get.

she's obviously going to know more about women than you. being a woman and all :)

i think women disappoint me when they don't think the same way i do. but i'm sure that's also my problem more than their problem. it's not that i can't take them arguing with me, i'm happy to argue politics and ethics and religion till the cows come home. but the importance of spending every saturday afternoon traipsing round shops or reading every edition of cosmo from cover to cover just eludes me completely.
i'm just looking for someone who's got spark and wants to take us both as potential couple on a kinda roller coaster ride through the world - who isn't afraid to be impulsive sometimes but knows when to have a quiet night in with a dvd and pack of doritos too. i just don't come across enough people who are "out there" and not locked away in marriage bliss already.

Generalisations, all of them...
There are plenty of women around who don't like shopping on saturday afternoons, who hate cosmo, like DVDs and compulsion.

Just gotta find 'em.

I said people could interview me if they wanted to, but no one did :(

Am I that unloved? Or just that much of an open book? :)

We all hate ya, that's what it is.
It's the baby picture :P

I've actually only asked one person anything. I'm quite unimaginative for this stuff, let's see if I can come up with anything for you.

1. Choose a song to live with for eternity. A song that you will have to hear for every waking moment for the rest of your life. Why that one?

2. Given the option of taking part in a long-term project which involved cutting contact with everyone you know for the duration (i.e. - a year or more), would you take part? The project could be anything, a scientific exploration, a self-discovery trek, make it up as you go along.

3. Have you ever loved someone and had it surprise you? i.e. - someone you would never have thought you would find attractive / loveable?

4. In your experience of various places throughout the world, where would you want to live if you couldn't stay in NY?

5. What's a good tune to play in order to get you up and dancing? :)
