I hate this. It's even harder when you don't know what you're looking for!
I've sent off some emails to letting agencies and think I've got a vague kind of feel for what the pricing's like in various bits. Sheffield is definitely cheaper than Rotherham, and the commute to work is minimal. I need to organise some time down in that part of the world, two or three days of nothing but house-hunting.
I have texted David, and he's said "I'll get back to you". I trust him, though am still incredibly nervous.
2 months. That's what I have. I have decided the 30th November is my final date. If push comes to shove, I might change it to the 2nd of December, because that would make the standing order arrangement easier for rent :) This means I have 2 months to find a new house, arrange all my stuff, move, and be ready to start again in earnest down in South Yorkshire.
Why so soon?
I would have liked to have given myself 3 months - but seriously - why would I move over Christmas?!?! REALLY!? I am not going to do that. I don't want to wait any longer, so 2 months.... 2 months... it sounds so good....
I MUST BE MAD!

It's only about an hour by car to Sheff from mine...
(and if a certain other spod wishes to come visit at the same time, she'd be welcome too...)

I'm going to make some time in the next 2/3 weeks or so to head down to the area. I'll let you know :) I don't think I have your mobile number atm Dawn, can you mail/SMS it to me?

If you want to stay at mine for a night or two while you go looking you can do - for I have an inflatable matress you can use :-) Now I'm a student again you'd have to put up with me doing unsociable worky-type things if demanded at any hour, but so long as you can cope with that, you are most welcome.
Finally - no you are not mad. In fact I suspect you'll rather like it here :-)

I mentioned the sheffield/rotherham divide mainly as the pricing seems to much better in Sheffield :) Presumably it's larger... as they're so close, it doesn't make that much difference in the end.
I will be working in Wath Upon Dearne which is found here: http://www.streetmap.co.uk/streetmap.dll?G2M?X=445523&Y=400617&A=Y&Z=1 (http://www.t-mobile.co.uk/Dispatcher?menuid=inside_cao2o_oukl_dearne_valley)
Accomodation-wise. I'd like a small 2 bed house, but that depends on pricing. I'll go for anything from a 1 bed flat upwards if the price and condition is right. I don't have any special requirements - only plus points. I would REALLY like off street parking :)
My requirements are very loose. All I am after is a rough idea and I've got a week or so booked off work at the end of the month, when I will go on a blitz and look around everywhere that I can.

I *sense* it is the sort of place where public transport doesn't venture as often as you'd like it to (though I could be wrong) and having a car is best way of getting to it. Swinton and Bolton-on-Dearne are the nearest train stations and the area is awkwardly mid way between the two by a couple of miles. For South Yorkshire travel info http://www.sypte.co.uk is a good place to start.
You are probably about 5 miles from Rotherham and 10 miles from Sheffield at your new place.

As I say, public transport is not a necessity, but would be nice just in case :)
Your description fits perfectly all the other T-Mobile office/call centre locations I know of. Doxford, Greenock and Merthyr all look the same. Apart from we have better views ;)
It's nice to know it's not actually that far away, I didn't think it was but you never can really get a feeling with maps.

Oh, and I am so mad. Whose silly idea was this? :)

*tries not to be too soppy for everyone elses sensibilities*
I hope you know how happy I actually am for you.
I can't wait now; must get on with my planning ;)
