I've been using a Mozilla plugin called Adblock (recommended to me by [livejournal.com profile] ivarch) for a while now. It's totally revolutionised my web browsing. I've got about 10 rules set up, and it filters out all the ads on every single webpage I visit regularly.

This is so nice because it filters out images and (*gasp*) flash animations using wildcards (so *.doubleclick.net/* filters 90% of them out), rather than complete pages. It also does it on the fly, so you look at an ad, right click it and choose "block image" - it vanishes.

This makes things interesting when I spod from work. Because I don't see the ads at home any more I forget about them. Browsing from work is a real shock and very unpleasant...

Ads bother me mainly when they take over your screen. The ones that pop up over your news story or whatever. Argh.
