My domain appears to be down, and I've had no communication from the provider.

I'm pissed mainly because for some reason, the professional hosting service run by someone whom I know knows better, doesn't have a backup MX record defined for the domain! So any email to my email address is currently bouncing - well... queuing first of all, and will then be bouncing.

The problem appear to have been ongoing since at least 1am today and appears to be affecting everyone's domain which is hosted by this company. Yet there's still been no update.

If I had more confidence in my ADSL, my own abilities and forgetfulness, I would change the DNS to my own machine and ZoneEdit. In fact I might do it anyhow, but ask the company to act as a backup MX. At least that way I'll be in control and can't blame anyone else for screwups.

Which provider. A lot of companies are no longer using backup MX unless they can do the full range of checks as the main server due to joe job spams and the likes and getting blacklisted if a 2nd MX does it....

Personally I prefer to do most of this stuff myself as well. That way I know what is going on.

This is ivarch, tripwire of old on Mono...

I'm currently looking to host the DNS myself but don't know if I can be arsed to sort out the reverse zone files :)
