Jane and I went to see Sin City last night. We both knew it was based on the graphic novels by Frank Miller, and she'd tried to read them in the past, but found them a bit... "too much".

It was fab. Go see it :)

Cool, a recommendation :) We plumped for the League of Gentlemen movie last night, but Sin City is next!

For the record, the LOTG:A film is "okay". They central conceit of the film (characters turn up in "our" world) is way too clever-clever to sustain an entire movie. I hope they return to a "straight" LOG series after this.

I've never seen the League of Gentlemen TV series, and the trailers for the film alone have put me off ever watching it. Seems to be low-brow humour with very little good content. God I sound snobby :)

Next target for me in the cinema is definitely Batman Begins. Looks awesome. After that comes Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka!). Mr and Mrs Smith is on the list, mainly for eye candy. There are some damn good looking films coming along this summer.

See, that's the thing - it's by far one of the most interesting and clever comedies of recent times, so the film was a real let-down because of its previous pedigree. :) It's definitely a "sleeper" though - you need to watch them in order to get the most out of it and to see the gallery of grotesques develop!

But yes, we're definitely into "summer film" territory after a real dearth of watchable stuff earlier in the year. Batman Begins should be good, and Mr and Mrs Smith looks suitably interesting to merit a ticket. Charlie ATCF - will go see it, if only to see how it holds up with the original. But my current viewpoint is similar to that of Gene Wilder's - "what's the point, other than being a cynical money grab?".

"What's the point"...

Yep. Agreed. But if it's an interesting remake with a new angle, it's all good :) I'm so easy!
