My DVD player has given up. It now refuses to play any DVD I throw at it. Hence my watching of Hero on the laptop. This is a bummer, especially now that my Simpsons series 6 DVDs have arrived :)

I've seen a replacement I wouldn't mind for £50 from Comet. I know you can pick up DVD players cheaper than that, but I have surround sound at the moment - it would seem daft not to get another surround sound system.

Still, I think £50 for an entire system (player, speakers and all) isn't bad. Wonder where I can pick up just the base unit on it's own from...

My DivX DVD player cost me less then 50 quid,
has all the surround sound I could wish and plays DVDs, MPGs, AVIs and hence most of the crap I download ...

It doesn't do ogm or wmv but hey ... most stuff is in AVI anyway.

I have a Philips D610 (or something like that).

Oh and it also support .srt files so you can have avi's with seperate subtitles.

A well worthwhile investment (I mean a DVD with AVI's on can hold an entire season of stuff ...)
