I've seen a really nice Panasonic DVD player/recorder/80Gb hard disk recorder in Asda's out of town store. It does DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, and every other kind of CD shaped media you can throw at it. I think I want one. I've seen them in Powerhouse for £250, and in Comet for £300, and Asda are flogging it for £220! Asked in Powerhouse and the cheapest they can offer on credit is 19.9% APR, Comet's credit is ridiculous at 24.9% APR! My credit card rate is lower than both of those!

I want one, but I don't want to take on more debt. I could buy it on credit but I shouldn't :) I really want a new DVD player damnit, and I don't want to buy anything but the best (yeah I know, I'm forgoing the phrase "that you can afford" on the end of that statement).

Unfortunately I have some more important things to buy first. Like... brake work done on the car. They're starting to feel like they need replacing (probably discs). I need new back tyres still. Why are car tyres so expensive?

A DivX player with Ethernet,
and a TV card for your machine.

That way you can watch stuff from your machine and record to it and watch all D shaped media and everything.

Also that could well be done less then £200.

hmmm, I kinda like the idea but watching movies on the laptop is not fun. Hmmmm... must investigate the idea of DVD players with ethernet!
