Jane popped up Friday evening, I was told I couldn't get Saturday off work (what?) so went in, leaving her here, and on Saturday evening we went out to Sheffield. I wanted to go to Pizza Express quite desperately, but when we turned up we were told there would be about a 1hr wait! *sulks* Went to Nandos instead.

Now, I'm not a hot-food-wuss or a chilli-wuss, but this "medium" chicken that we had was really really hot! Tasty, but still bloody hot.

We decided that rather than driving into Sheffield, which always goes horribly wrong for me, we'd take the tram from Centertainment as we were going to the cinema there after food. I'd never been on that tram before, I swear it's more like a massive slow roller-coaster with no seatbelts than a tram! :) I swear, it made life so much easier, I can't cope with driving in Sheffield.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was good. Very good. There were some sections which felt very forced, and I couldn't decide whether it was intentional or not. The Willy Wonka character was very nervous, and the forcedness may have been a part of that, but it felt slightly rocky at some points. I'm not saying it's bad, I really enjoyed it.

The hardest thing was to stop myself from rolling around on the floor at the Oompa-Loompa character and the songs (performed by Danny Elfman!!!).

All this talk of Sheffield has me pine-ing for the place.

I have no experience of driving in Sheffield, but from what I've seen as a passenger, it seems inevitable that you must pass through that huge roundabout at Park Circus which has about a dozen exits and is about 4 lanes wide on any journey past/to the city centre.

It looks like one of those where you have no choice but to be in the wrong lane at some point in your passage through it to have any chance of getting round!

*chuckles* Yeah, Ponds Forge/Park Lane roundabout I think it is. It's horrible. But that on it's own is no challenge, really. The real challenge is finding your way - nay - the RIGHT way off the ring road, into the city centre, because if you choose the wrong way in, then you're doomed to a nightmare of one-way systems and parking at the other end of the city to where you expected to be :)

Come back, I'll take put you up and take you out there if you wish!
