OH!

I forgot to mention, I got a phone call from someone at 'S.Com Recruitment' earlier today, advising me that he'd got a 3 month contract available, working for O2 in Leeds, doing pretty much _exactly_ the same as I'm doing now. Now whilst I recognise this isn't the direction I'm wanting to go - let's listen up closely for a few moments...

He asked what I was after salary wise, I advised my current salary and he chuckled - stating "They're offering £1x0 a day?". I can't remember what the x is, but I think it's 2 or 8... *gulp* Nobody's ever even considered paying me that much ever before! Yes, it's a 3 month contract. Yes it's not exactly career progression. Just think of the money! It's at least double what I get now, assuming I got 'x' right and it wasn't higher than that.

So I've said I'm interested and to get more info. *crosses fingers that it's all good stuff*

someone i know from Shell and IBM went to work there.

that figure they are quoting is probably as a self-employed contractor. you have to get an umbrella company type thing to handle all the tax (i think anyway!)

if u do end up there his name is Nick van der Beek (dutch guy). he didn't much like driving to manchester from leeds every day so it was fair enough. not sure how good he was though!

I already do have that - I'm a self-employed contractor for a number of agencies and the tax is my responsibility. Hence my witterings about tax and trying to screw the system the other night :)
