I packed, in the end.

So, this is going to be long and boring. There'll be random details that I remember. There'll be huge gaps where I don't remember anything.

Starting on Thursday, where I was panicking about packing. I went to Jane's in the evening, where I found her, Paula and Adam in the pub doing quite well at the quiz. I didn't help much, but had a nice time of it. Friday, Jane worked and I went exploring, into Shrewsbury and drank coffee, bought DVDs, and drooled over some bottles of Welsh Whisky which were a little too costly for my liking. Took my car through the car wash (the queue was about 40 minutes long so I read my newly acquired James Bond books), where it promptly stopped half way through the run, with the rollers outside my door. No way out! Eek!

Panicked a little bit - I'm not exactly claustrophobic but you know - being stuck inside a car wash isn't the most pleasant experience. It must have taken the person in the car behind me about 5 minutes to realise that I was shouting at them to get help. After that it was all resolved quickly but it was a little weird.

Friday night? I don't remember. Oh, hang on... we went shopping for things for the car journey and dropped off some books. Exciting indeed!

Saturday we were awoken rudely in the early morning by Jane's mum who shouted a series of instructions at her through the door, none of which I was able to remember. We set off at about 8:30am, Jane driving so that she could get used to the car.

From then, until about 6pm, nothing exciting happened whatsoever. The scenery got even prettier and the rain came down harder. We switched driving between us - she drove to Tebay, I drove to just south of the Forth Bridge, she drove to somewhere around Aviemore and I drove to Elgin. The autoroute directions, mileage and timings were almost perfect. We added on 2 or 3 miles with stops and slight detours and they missed one new roundabout. I was very impressed. It was all remarkably easy and quick.

We arrived, Ruth and John waved at us but we couldn't see them thanks to the bright sunshine. D'oh. In, tea, hugs. Yay. Their flat reminds me a lot of my place in Greenock - nice but a bit bigger and probably in need of a little TLC from someone who actually owns the place. Seems about the same in any rented accomodation really.

Chinese. Jimmy Cheungs, buffet. Very well presented, very good service, excellent food. Perfect. I'm slightly surprised that there are at least 2 chinese buffets in Elgin, with another indian buffet available and a couple more restaraunts. For a slightly small city it seems a little overkill!

Whisky, then sleep.
The next day, we went somewhere... ah yes - Loch Spynie I think it was. We watched birds being birds, interesting things started happening just as we packed up, bah! Off to the seaside. Not sure exactly where, my memory's a little vague. I also can't remember what we ate on Sunday evening... little help? :) I can however, tell you that we had Pancakes for lunch. Yummy yummy pancakes.

More to come

Did you not try beeping your horn?

I took my car to the carwash the other day, and completely surprised myself by being claustrophobic, and panicky that bits of the car were going to be ripped off, and that I'd not positioned the car right, etc, etc, etc. Deeply traumatic!

So, I can appreciate what you went through somewhat!!

I beeped my horn but nobody seemed to notice. It was very loud and the people behind me were being remarkably thick.
