So, Capote, The Pink Panther, Syriana, V for Vendetta and Inside Man. 4 good films, 1 mediocre film. Guess which falls into which category.

I went today after I did the betting shops in Sheffield, because I had to drive past the cinema anyhow. I was looking at the UGC Cinemas website after I had tea (BMT sub, yum) and noticed that Inside Man was on late, I didn't think it was open yet so I had to go.

Inside Man is a good film. A great film? I think so, anyway. It's a tense one. The camera movement was bloody annoying at points, to the point where I had to close my eyes to stop feeling motion sick. Lots of that circling round and round a subject, lots of circling round a room. Very NYPD Blue in a way, with the artificial handheld camera feel.

Some exeedingly clever bits of camera work. Denzel gets mad and his fury is very cleverly shown by him staying stock still and the camera zooming in whilst tracking backwards, yet he's staying still and there's people chasing him. Really badly explained. Very clever. [edit - Ahh a "zolly", "trombone shot" or other names for the same thing.]

The storyline is interesting and engaging. Clive Owen is quite stunningly creepy as a bank robber/leader of the pack despite not actually seeing his face for large portions of the film. Willem Dafoe confused me by not being who I expected him to be :)

It's really too late to be writing here... I'll try again tomorrow.
